Cersei's Prophecy on 'Game of Thrones' & Who Is Really Going to Kill Her
There are a few suspects who could take down Queen Cersei.
, Cersei obliterated most of her enemies, but in the process she also inadvertently killed her son, King Tommen. (Even death made a coward out of Tommen. Poor kid just couldn\'t get anything right.) His mother on the other hand is spectacular at murdering people. Seriously, Cersei\'s got pure, incontestable talent for it.
However, Mad Queen Cersei shouldn\'t start smiling so soon. In Season 5, Cersei visited the witch in the woods, Maggy, and demanded to know her future. What Cersei received was a very dark prophecy that has almost reached completion on
Cersei did, in fact, marry the king and become queen. She sits on the Iron Throne now, although Maggy claimed Cersei would be cast down by a younger, more beautiful queen. Where Margaery tried and failed, Daenerys will inevitably be successful. Of course, Cersei\'s three children all lived with golden crowns on their heads, but those crowns also inevitably led to their graves.
Maggy also revealed how Cersei dies: “And when your tears have drowned you, the Valonqar shall wrap his hands about your pale white throat and choke the life from you.”
In High Valyrian, Valonqar means “little brother.” Well, Jaime and Tyrion are both younger than Cersei, and that complicates things a bit. So who will really take down Cersei?
The way Cersei and Jaime looked at each other during the Season 6 finale is of the utmost importance. Cersei expressed no remorse after initiating a mass murder, while Jaime not only realized that his last child had died but also that his sister had taken over the Iron Throne.
Jaime killed the Mad King Aerys II Targaryen to prevent him from unleashing wildfire on King\'s Landing. This was inarguably a defining moment in Jaime\'s life and turned him into the Kingslayer. So, it\'s fitting that Jaime is the Valonqar from the prophecy. Cersei undermined the very atrocity that Jaime literally stabbed the king in the back for. Technically, Jaime only has one real hand, but his golden hand should also really be accounted for. Plus, it would be poetic justice if Cersei is killed by the hands of her brother/lover/the person she trusts most in the world. Just as he killed the Mad King, Jaime shall kill the Mad Queen.
We all know that Cersei and Tyrion hate each other to the core, and Cersei has already tried to get Tyrion killed multiple times. Is it time for some payback then? With Daenerys by his side, Tyrion certainly has strength in numbers. Plus, he surprised everyone when he killed his father, Tywin Lannister, on the toilet! What a way to go. Surely, Tyrion\'s got some other tricks up his sleeve, and he certainly wouldn\'t feel bad about doing it.
Arya\'s got a Kill List and Cersei\'s on the top of it. In the finale, we saw Arya resurface in Westeros so she could avenge what transpired at the Red Wedding. Arya\'s killing of Walder Frey was as satisfying as it was shocking. Clearly, she\'s still got access to those masks and has gotten even better at deception and murder. So what if Arya decides to put on another one, except this time it\'s Jaime\'s face she\'s sporting? Cersei wouldn\'t be so guarded around Jaime, and it would certainly provide Arya ample opportunity to enact her revenge.
Plus, wearing a mask of Jaime\'s face should still fulfill the Valonqar prophecy since Cersei would believe it\'s her brother. However, when Cersei is taking in her last breath, Arya could reveal herself just as she did with Walder Frey. Dying by the hands of a Stark is probably the worst thing Cersei can imagine.
Who do you think is going to bring Cersei\'s reign of terror to an end? Hit the comments to discuss all your theories.
