First FULL Game of Thrones Season 5 Trailer
Irene Enlow on Jan 29, 2015 to Game of Thrones Trailers
Alright, HBO enough teasing. Tonight was a big night for the Home Box Office with Game of Thrones premiering in IMAX theaters for the first time for ANY TV show.  HBO took the opportunity to debut the first full trailer for the upcoming 5th season of Game of Thrones which premieres April 12th.  The official video isn’t out yet but it looks like someone at that IMAX screening picked up the video. Here’s what we’re got so far:
Well, we’ve finally gotten a glimpse into Season Five and things are looking amazing! Exciting is a mild word for this action packed two minute trailer that will leave you out of breath and out of patience waiting for April. Let’s break down the trailer and talk about all the great things we just saw.
The trailer begins with a shot of what appears to be Jaime at Tywin Lannister’s funeral.
It then cuts to what appears to be a shot of the North.
We then see our first look at Cersei this season, riding in a boxed palanquin.
We then see a shot of Jaime, transposed against blackness (perhaps accompanying Cersei?)
We then see a shot of what appears to be a location North of the Wall (maybe Moles Town?)
The trailer than cuts to a Bronn unsheathing a sword, and then what appears to be a quick shot of the Brazen Beasts.
We then see Petyr Baelish, cupping Sansa’ face in his hand telling her there is no justice in the world unless they make it themselves.
The trailer than shows a Sandsnake using her whip, probably Obara Sand, given her penchant for the weapon.
The screen then cuts to a tropical location and then Petyr urging Sansa to be vengeful.
We then see a large horde of people (perhaps Wildlings) wading into the water, and then a younger Cersei drawing a drop of blood from her finger for the witch Maggie the Frog.
The trailer than shows Tommen marrying Maegery Tyrell, much in the same fashion as his older brother Joffrey.
We then see Wildlings marching forward, before the scene switches to Essos where Varys is talking to a rather disguised Tyrion. The scene then cuts to Tyrion falling out of a crate, which many will remember he was smuggled out of Kings Landing in in the end of Season 4.
We then see many men holding torches at what appears to be the Wall, before the scene cuts to Melisandre, her face illuminated by flickering flames.
The trailer than shows Varys and Tyrion (again disguised) walking together, before cutting to horsemen charging through the woods.
Next, we see Jon Snow for the first time, looking noble against a bleak landscape of snow. The camera then cuts to a girl whose identity is difficult to distinguish in the shadows  before fading to blackness.
We then see two women, one of whom appears to be Maegery Tyrell walking away from the camera, their backs to us.
A few foggy shots of wooden gate precede a shot of Daenerys declaring that she will not “stop the wheel” but “break the wheel,” before cutting to Ser Jorah fighting against an opponent wielding a spear.
We then see Cersei opening a mysteriously mechanical box  before the screen shifts yet again to a shot of Tyrion sitting hooded. There is another shot of Cersei (desperate to find Tyrion) before we see several montages Melisandre lighting what appears to be a great fire.
The camera then cuts to Tyrion saying”I don’t think I’m ready for what I deserve,” before showing Jon Snow yelling  and men charging into combat.
We then see Jaime before the camera cuts to a woman who appears to be Dornish. We then see Olenna Tyrell telling someone “They’ll never even find what’s left of you.”
There are then several montages of different people fighting.
We then see a good look at what appears to be the mask of a Brazen Beast and then a quick shot of Theon Greyjoy, before the camera cuts to an exotic looking horse and rider engaging in combat. A quick montage of difficult to identify people follows, before we see Arya Stark standing at the doors of the House of Black and White.
We then see Arya again, dressed differently, picking up her sword, Needle.
The trailer than shows what appears to be Arryn bannermen before cutting to a map with many Bolton sigils on it.
We then see Tyrion and Varys conversing about finding (but not finding) someone, and then we see Daenery again.
The screen then cuts to a dragon blowing fire into the screen.
There are several more quick montages of water, a kiss, and Melisandre undressing before the trailer shows Daenery again, accompanied by her Unsullied army.
The trailer than shows two people meeting on a hill, unidentified hands, and a montage of fighting Wildlings and Brazen Beasts.
The screen then cuts to a woman with red hair, many combatants in what appears to be a fighting pit, and a raven.
Finally, the trailer ends by showing the Astapor being pulled down, signifying Daenery’s full control of the city.
The trailer is breathe-taking in its visuals and exciting in the new concepts it introduces.  It was exciting to see some old friends and also some new characters. I thought it was interesting that Stannis Baratheon was not in the trailer, however. Overall, this is a very exciting time as we finally get to see the world of Westeros again. If only April would come sooner.
