However, I could vote for Naveen, John Smith, or Aladdin, though I go back and forth between finding him one of the least feminist and one of the more feminist. For now I'm satisfied with Phillip, but it might change.
Naveen on the other hand...god, what an a-hole. Especially the line about blonds not worth holding a candle (or something like that). And yes, he does (supposedly) change later on, but for most of the movie, he treats woman like shit, like things to be used however he likes...in real live, Tiana would be alone and broke in a few years after marrying a guy like him, because he decided to take of with her money and the waitress or something equally tasteless.
I chose Aladdin because I recently read this and it came up in my mind when trying to decide what to pick: link
"A red head on my left arm, a brunette on my right, a blonde or two to hold the candle, now that seems just about right?"
@Wendy_Darling-- that's my article. And I believe Aladdin is one of the most feminist. He loves Jasmine for being able to fight back at him, being sassy, and likes her despite her being so difficult, demanding, and controlling. He likes her strong personality and dominance. He names two personality qualities about her when listing why he likes her and THEN mentions he's beautiful. He treats her like her feelings don't matter, but not because of her gender, because of her CLASS. He was treating her as a definite equal when he thought she was poor.
As for Naveen, yeah, he'd be low on my list, but I'm not sure where in the movie he treats women as objects-- Just because you're not ready for a relationship and want to sleep around with women, doesn't mean you see them as just objects. As long as he's open and honest about it (which he clearly is) then he doesn't seem to be using them as toys. Does this mean I am treating men as objects? No. I'm not denying their value, I'm just not ready for a relationship.
One thing I will hold against Naveen is using Lottie for her money. That IS treating her as an object.
Naveen, at first, really looks down at Tiana, but in the end, he changes. He highly appreciates her dream to open her own restaurant.
and he wanted to chase after cinderella, but couldn´t get through those uninteresting women, who wanted to know who cinderella is... and he may have not been allowed to go and search for her himself...
the poor prince hadnt had enough screentime either, but even in the deleted scenes and storyboards, he doesnt do much that i would call feminist actions...
charming also not, but i just pick the prince, because i can understand charmings character better XD
i eventually decided on Charming because he doesn't even search for the girl that HE WANTS TO MARRY himself, he forces others to do it for him.
Sorry, I guess I got the wrong idea reading that, what with you saying things like "Aladdin is being totally possessive and controlling of Jasmine."
