The Princess and the Frog is my favorite Disney movie, a lot of which has to do with it being a memorable experience for me at the movies. I practically loved every minute of it in that first viewing, and that magic hasn't quite yet faded away. I think what works so well is the setting of New Orleans, because it has a great impact on the visuals and music, both of which are excellent. The story is fun too. I do find it rushed in some parts, but it's not too bothersome when the messages are so good, and you see how that works with the characters (especially Tiana). It's great to work hard, but be careful not to let it deprive you of the most important things in life. Tiana learns how to have more fun in life and finds that leisure, and especially love, are what she's missing. And for Naveen, wealth doesn't matter so much when there are greater things to be had in life. He learns how to do things for himself and create goals, and of course find love. It's pretty great that the two find what's missing from their lives in each other.

I'm sorry to report that this is one of my least favorite Disney movies. I like jazz music, but not the jazz music in this film. New Orleans has a lot of slums. I don't think you can turn Segregation into a fairy-tale. EVER. I also don't think Tiana's narrow-minded personality inspires me at all. Tiana sure works hard, but she comes across as superior, judgemental, and a huge pessimist toward everyone around her. I somehow wish Lottie, Tiana's flighty, but well-meaning friend, had achieved her dream instead of watching Tiana achieving hers. I don't root for Tiana at all. I root for Ray, Tiana's friend, and he dies early still hoping to be with Evangeline. Ray has more hope than Tiana has in her pinkie finger! Tiana, and her business dream, really just pushes all of the wrong buttons in me. A business dream is not fantastical, it's realist. Opening a restaurant, and turning back into humans from becoming frogs is not magical, either. The Princess and The Frog feels like a real world piece of history was jammed into a fairy-tale while losing every bit of charm that the original fairy-tale possessed. Pushing away your family, and your own community to become a workaholic to advance your dream does not bode well. Tiana is definitely evidence of that. In the end, Tiana learns not to be the obnoxious nuisance she was during most of the movie, but by then it's too late. Tiana has annoyed me too much to enjoy her movie at all.

I adore the Princess and the Frog. It's a breath of fresh air to see a princess who works hard for a realistic dream. Tiana is such a great character who has so much hope in her and reaches for what she wants despite her situation. She's a no-nonsense kind of girl who isn't afraid to get her hands dirty, and I adore that about her. She conquers so much adversity to get to where she wants to be. It's very inspiring to me. I love the music too. Every time I watch this film my foot is always tapping along to the score. My one critique is how the film glosses over the segregation of the deep south in the 20s. I think they could have picked a better setting or time period for the story. Other than that, though, this movie is amazing.

I'm same like wavesurf. This is also my least fav DP movie, and the only DP movie that I completely dislike. It lacks of magic and charm unlike most of Disney movies. I don't think the idea of mix fairytale and magic with realist stuffs like working, business, etc. is a good idea. Tiana, well, she works, at least she didn't just waiting her dreams come true, but in my opinion she works hard but not works smart. She dreams, but so far I see her to be very ambitious and obsessed to gain money. She is the least friendly of all Disney Princesses, like wavesurf said, she's judgemental, pessimist, and thinks like she's superior to be realist and don't like fairytales.
Beside Tiana as a character, I don't find this movie to be enjoyable enough to watch. I tend to don't like any of characters except both of Tiana's parents and Charlotte. The animation is nice but I don't like the color combination and lighting, most of them are consist of flashy light yellow and lime green. Well, soundtrack too but as I'm not a fan of jazz in general then it doesn't matter.
This movie trying a new combination of fairytale and realist life to appeal more modern audience, but it fails in my opinion. That's why this combination is no longer used by Disney and for their next modern fairytale movies, like Tangled and Frozen, they instead use same fairytale formula like Renaissance movies unless the story is getting retouched.
Overally there's no any stuffs that I really like from this movie and that's why it disappoint me and still stays as my least. Ever.

An awesome movie! I love it's Renessaince-esque animation. Tiana is my #2 favorite DP. She is extremely beautiful, she has uncommon for DPs personality and at the same she is an awesome role model( unlike, Megara who is also unique but unlikeable to me). Yes, she is ambitious and somewhat greedy and I sort her to Slytherin but I think that she is the most honorable of all characters I sort there. Another character I love is Facilier. He is my #2 favorite DP villain andmy #3 Disney Villain in general( it's Hades who drops him to the third place).
I'm not fan of jazz but l admire Friends on The Other Side.
I think that this movie perfectly mixes Renessaince traditions with innovation. Love it!
