This fan pick is based on the tale of Arachne and Athena. It starts when Arachne challenges Athena to a weaving contest cuz she thinks she's WAAAY better than anyone else(even better than Athena) But of course, Athena won. Jealous, Arachne torn Athena's masterpiece(i think) and Athena gets mad at her so she turns her into a spider(that's why the scientific name for spider is Arachne) ;) So I believe that this punishment was fair because Arachne challenged a Godess cuz she was to proud of herself, and cuz of her "proudness" and her disrespect towards Athena, she had to pay the price!

I thought that Athena said Arachne won but she had to much pride so she turned her into a spider of some thing like that...

Arachne insulted the gods and goddess, she deserved to be turned into a spide! At least she didnt die and she does still get to weave....so yes she deserved it...

In the version i herd athena thought arachne's weaving was better that her so she went rambo.

Actually, I don't think Athena was even being harsh. When Athena was angry at Arachne, she started to hit her. Arachne feared a worse beating, and she started to hang herself. Then Athena turned her into the first spider, so Arachne was saved.
