Somewhere in Gotham
Becca walked the quiet streets. Her old neighbor हुड, डाकू was dead silent and dimly lit द्वारा the few lampposts that worked. She kept going as sounds of busy city life faded behind her. She stopped at an alley, unnoticeable because of the pitch blackness that hid it. She kneeled, head bowed.
“I have come back master.”
A voice answered her, a strong but unrecognizable accent in her voice.
“Well done my protege. I thought आप had turned soft.”
“I have. I have made फ्रेंड्स I thought I could trust. But they want nothing to do with me. They have betrayed my trust and I have sought आप out. In hope of forgiveness.”
“Becca. I warned आप about the humans. They aren't like us. I'm your only friend. आप need only trust me. Come. I will welcome आप back with open arms.”
Becca stood and rushed into the arms of her mentor. Hands soothed her head and the two headed inside a desolate building. Familiar faces met Becca and smirks lit their faces.
“Has our darling finally come home?” a girl asked.
“Seems like the princess wants to return to her ivory tower,” a man responded.
“That is enough!” Becca's mentor scolded. “Our dear sister has returned to us. That is all the joy we need. Besides, Becca has been betrayed.”
“Oh Becca. I'm sorry.”
“It's alright Cheshire. I know आप and Ares meant no harm. Even Circe, Black Adam, and Lobo would have spoken in spite if Talia hadn't stepped in.”
“I'm glad you're back, sister,” Cheshire said. “We have a plan that's ready for action.”
“Not yet, Jade. Becca needs her rest.”
The others nodded and Talia pushed Becca in the direction of several rooms.
“Stay in my room for now, my dear. I'll be along shortly.”
Becca started off in that direction and, when she was out of hearing, Talia Al Ghul turned to Circe and Ares.
“Our dear warrior has been corrupted. When she is asleep, I need you, Circe, to allow Ares to enter Becca's mind. His powers of persuasion are strong. But Becca's defenses are strong as well. If we do it while she's at rest, her defenses will be down. And द्वारा the time they act up, it'll be too late.”
“Yes, Talia,” Circe said. “I will do as instructed.”
“Good. Cheshire, I have a message for आप to deliver. Follow me.”
Talia led her young ally down several corridors before entering a make-shift office of sorts. Talia pulled a note from one of the drawers and handed it to Jade.
“I had this ready for a long while. It's a ransom note of sorts to Young Justice. Telling them we've kidnapped Becca and want a reward for her release.”
“But Becca came of her own free will, Talia.”
“I know that. We know that. But Young Justice doesn't. Becca's mind will be altered so it seems that they, not only let her down, but also have no use of her. Until a chance appearance let's them see who Becca truly is. Then Becca will be on our side forever.”
“It is truly brilliant, Talia. What do आप want done with the message?”
“I want आप to personally give this to one of the members of Young Justice. I recall having seen someone आप may know on the team.”
Jade smirked deviously. She placed the mask over her face and bowed.
“It will be done.”
Mt. Justice
Artemis was getting a headache. All the noise inside the mountain (where they had met up after trying to find Becca) was loud and irritating. At first, she tried ignoring it. But it was harder with every passing second.
“I need fresh air. I'll be back in five minutes,” she called.
She exited the mountain, loving the cool wind that whipped her hair. But her pleasure was short lived. A sia was thrown at her feet and she watched as a figure touched the ground.
“You. What are आप doing here?”
Artemis pulled one of her arrows out and aimed it.
“Be calm little sis. I have a message.”
“From who? Why should I trust आप Cheshire?”
The villain before her let out an evil chuckle and pulled a slip of paper from her outfit. It was a crisp white envelop and she held it out to Artemis.
“Don't trust me, Arty. This is merely a warning. Something I was sent to give. Take it.”
“I'm not falling for any of your tricks! Not this time!”
“But this is no trick. I'll be frank with you, dear sister. This message is the answer to your question.”
“Which one?”
“Open it and find out.”
Cautiously and slowly, Artemis put down her bow and arrow. She took the note from Cheshire and looked it over. It was unopened, but she was still wary of any danger.
“How am I sure this isn't a fake?”
“I haven't harmed आप have I?”
“...No. But it could still be a trick.”
Cheshire sighed and picked up her weapon before straightening.
“Fine. I was sent only to deliver it. My job is done. And just to make sure आप don't follow me...”
A smoke pellet was thrown and the gas erupted from the opened container. Artemis coughed and waved her hand. The smoke soon disappeared, but Cheshire was long gone.
