"Class, before आप leave, please remember to write down tonight's homework assignment so आप won't forget over the weekend." He looked sternly at me.
"Don't worry, Mr. Thomas, I'll have it done," I कहा to him, though I wasn't really sure I meant it.
He grunted, then the घंटी, बेल rang. "Dismissed."
I raced out of the room and ran outside. I jumped in the air and whooped. "Yes! The weekend!"
But it wasn't only a weekend, it was the last weekend before summer vacation. Which meant there was only three और days of school left.
I started walking toward the small bridge that led to my home. Even though it was almost summer, and I didn't know what to do...
I sighed. My life was so boring. I'd probably be the only high schooler in the world who spends the summer watching TV.
I was almost to my house when I heard a loud banging sound. I turned around and looked at the bridge again. One of the cables were broken, and one side of it was tipping into the water.
"Oh my god!" I screamed, running toward it. There was a car that was sliding down to the water. The people inside were trapped inside, screaming frantically for help.
In the few सेकंड्स I had left, I ran through the options in my head:
1. If I stood there doing nothing, the family in the car would drown and die.
2. If I stood there and waited for the Justice League to come, the family in the car would drown and die.
3. If I disobeyed my mother and used my powers to save the family in the car, they wouldn't drown and die.
There was only one thing to do: use my powers. Of course, my mother would be furious when I got home, but it's worth saving lives. I dropped my bookbag and flew downward.
I went under the car and lifted it. My forehead was sweating in concentration. I flew it over the bridge and set it down.
The family scrambled out of the car, exhausted. I flew back down and pulled the broken cable up. I carefully tied it with the other one about a million times.
"There! That should do it!" I clapped my hands together. There were many people gathered around, staring at the mysterious girl floating in the air.
I smiled sheepishly and grabbed my bookbag. They were still staring at me as I ran back to my house.
I unlocked the door slowly, hoping that my mom was asleep, and didn't see anything of what just happened.
But I was wrong.
Mom was standing in front of the window, arms crossed, lips in a line, eyes flaming. "What was THAT!" She pointed at the bridge. It wasn't really a question. She knew exactly what had happened.
"I saved the family द्वारा using my powers," I gritted through my teeth.
"Of course!" she shouted. "Erica, I don't want आप ending up like those fools in the Justice League who end up fixing everything! Do आप WANT bad guys trying to kill आप all the time?"
I sighed. This had to be taken care of. "Mom, listen to me. If I didn't save that family, they would've died. What's the point of having powers if I don't even use them?"
She breathed heavily. She was trying very hard to stay calm. "Did आप use your bending powers?"
I shook my head. "Nope. Only super strength and flying."
She sighed in relief. "Sorry about yelling at you. But now since there's another kid with superpowers, आप have responsibilities."
"I know I do, Mom. I'm going to take a walk." Without another word, I went outside.
It's a good thing I didn't use my bending powers. My mom would have totally freaked out. She was the only person in the world who knew I was the Avatar.
About 200 years ago, after the death of अवतार Aang, people stopped believing that the अवतार actually existed.
But two centuries later, I was born with it. End of story.
I sighed and kicked a pebble toward the water. If only my mother would believe in me...
There was a low crunch of rocks behind me. I turned around, and stared into the eyes of the one and only caped crusader.
Batman.
"We need to talk," was the only thing he कहा to me.
And at that moment, I regretted taking Option Three after all.

Somewhere in the Arctic, 4:49 a.m.
Nathan curled up on the rocky floor of the dark cave, protected from the snow for now. He'd found a piece of rock chipped off from the edges of the cavern and had somehow created a spark that had ignited into a flame. How it was sustaining, well, he didn't know. But it was keeping him warm, and for that he was grateful.
It suddenly dawned on him that he felt immensely drained, nearly useless. His दिल wasn't beating as fast as usuall. Pushing himself up, he went to find a pool of ice, to see what was wrong. What he saw shocked him: his hair had turned to it's orginal mocha hue, a sign of no powers.
He sighed, and realized with a jolt he was in a cave. A cave... and the last person he'd seen was the Batman's daughter. This small fact slightly amused him, but amusement turned to worry. "Fin..." he murmured. "Why can't आप see past what I've done? Why can't आप see that I प्यार you?"
