Don't आप think it's dumb that Betty works in a fashion magazine and her sister gives makeovers for a living plus invisable braces and contacts? It makes no sense right?

I understand why आप may think that but it actually does make sense, if आप take in both Betty and Hilda's character.

In the first place, Betty doesn't care that much about her appearance. When seeing her orthodontist, he may have offered to fit her with clear braces, but those cost और money. Similar with contacts, and with contacts, some people think they're uncomfortable and don't like touching their eyes (I have a friend with glasses who can't stand to wear contacts). I don't think Betty would opt for the prettier version if it could save her and her family money. She doesn't strike me as one to care.

Similarly, Hilda's idea of beauty isn't the same as Mode's idea of beauty, as seen in season one when Hilda DID give Betty a makeover. It just didn't work, and it just wasn't Betty. She didn't feel like herself, and she didn't feel prettier when she got to Mode.

As she put it in that episode, Betty just isn't a glamazon. To be honest, I know a lot of people like Betty, which is what makes her so realistic and relatable to me.
