We Know Exactly When Rick Will Head Back for His Stashed Gun in The Walking Dead
WARNING: Potential spoilers for The Walking Dead ahead
With the quick paced events of this week\'s episode of
The Walking Dead you might be forgiven for forgetting the moment right near the end of the show, when Rick sneakily stashed a gun inside a blender outside a shack:
With the gun safely tucked inside the abandoned kitchen appliance, Rick went back to the car, the whole group arrived at the gates of Alexandria and the episode came to a close. It seemed like Rick was probably stashing the gun much like the group did with their bag of weapons before they entered Terminus - if the community was bad news, they had an insurance policy of sorts, and if the community was good news, the guns could stay where they were.
However, it looks like Rick\'s gun is a very literal definition of the dramatic principle of Chekhov\'s gun which requires "every element in a narrative be necessary and irreplaceable, and that everything else be removed." Why else would the cameras show Rick stashing the gun if we weren\'t later going to see him, or someone else, retrieve it?
Any idea what the J stands for? Tell me below!
Walking Dead fans may already know the episode and part of the scene that the gun will reappear in! Allow me to explain.
Back in November, Nerdist.com posted an episode of Scott Ian\'s Bloodworks (hosted by Anthrax guitarist, Scott Ian) of Ian being transformed into a walker for an upcoming Season 5 episode directed by executive producer and special effects guru Greg Nicotero. In the video we got to see some footage of Ian on set with a clean shaven Rick and Carl a.k.a. Andrew Lincoln and Chandler Riggs.
Recognize anything? Yep, that\'s the same shack and pile of crap that Rick found the blender in. Greg Nicotero was the director for two upcoming episodes of the
Walking Dead, including next Sunday\'s episode which will be when we see this scene.
So it looks like we\'ve got a lot to look forward to next week with seeing the inside of Alexandria, and then somehow Rick and Carl (and maybe others) will return back to this shack where the gun is stashed, oh and also it looks like we\'ll also get treated to a clean shaven Rick Grimes! Whoa, I can\'t wait.
