I even cried when Dustin was talking with his uncle near the end about how he chosed to stay and fight. My favorite scene: Eddie playing his guitar at the Upside Down. (I´m not even into metal music and I loved the music in that scene).

I knew the possibility of Eddie dying was 99% but it didn´t make it hurt less. Also the Duffer brothers have confirmed he is death and without a way to return (Max still has the chance). I think the most sad thing is Hawkins still blames him for the deaths and think of him as a murderer and monster.
