The smell of death and destruction hung over the ruins of the royal family of Lasan's palace. It had been less than a दिन since a bomb went off destroying the building, part of the Empire's attack on the planet.
Part of a stone दीवार moved and a bloodied and battered figure crawled out. It was a Lasat male, young and a member of the Honor Guard द्वारा the remnants of the armor and uniform that clung to his injured muscular frame.
Coughing, the Lasat tried to stand and found out his left leg was broken.
"Karabast!" he whispered in a deep but pleasant voice. The pain was bad and it took all his willpower not to cry out.
He turned to the palace ruins, swallowed a rising sob in his throat, and placed a hand over his eyes.
He fell to his knees not caring about the fracture in his upper leg. Holding his bo-rifle for support he raised his head to the smoke-filled sky to let out a scream that echoed across the burning hillsides. His voice grew hoarse and he so wanted to cry, but being a captain of the Honor Guard, he had to stay strong for any survivors....if there were any.....
Carefully he got up using the bo-rifle as a crutch as he searched for survivors. Hours went द्वारा and he grew fatigued and discouraged. As he sat on a rock to rest, he listened for any other Lasats. Not hearing anything but muted explosions, he was ready to give up until he heard a weak voice call his name:
"Garazeb Orrelios...."
His pointed ears perked up fixing on the direction of the sound. It was coming from an area not far from where he was resting.
The voice was coming from his home.
"Garazeb.....help ....me..."
Leaning on the bo-rifle, Garazeb got up recognizing the voice of his mother.
"Hold on.......please....," he कहा his broken leg nearly buckling. He glanced down and saw blood running down his purple-striped leg from the break. He knew it was a bad fracture but kept walking.
It was getting harder to keep his spirits up seeing the badly burned bodies of his fellow Lasats laying everywhere. Garazeb felt sick to his stomach and sick at heart.
Letting his keen hearing lead him, he kept walking having to stop और getting weak from blood loss. Besides the fracture, he had numerous lacerations over most of the left side of his body, a bad one on his head above his left eye. Seeing all the death around him finally got to Garazeb and he felt the tears spilling down mixing with the dirt and blood.
He reached up to rub the blood from his face and found that his left arm wouldn't हटाइए right.
"Kara...bast," he whispered and sat down again to make a make-shift गोफन with a piece of his torn uniform. While doing this he heard the weakened cry of his mother again. With nothing but pure adrenalin, Garazeb got up and kept walking.
Towards evening he finally reached what was left of the Orrelios family home. He knew he might be too late and that made the tears flow more.
"Mother! Father!" he called out his own voice growing weak.
He glanced over to a burning part of a collapsed दीवार and saw the burned and broken body of his father. Openly crying now, Garazeb tried to find his mother.
Miraculously, she was still clinging to life. He bent down, not caring about his own injuries.
She opened her green eyes that were dimming with oncoming death. She reached up a hand to her son's face.
"Garazeb....I knew आप would come."
She looked over at the dead body of her husband. Choking back on a sob, blood trickling down the side of her mouth she said, "Your...father...he.... tried...to stand up....to..."
She uttered a moan and fell limp in Garazeb's arms.
"No....oh no....."
He hugged her lifeless body close and rocked her in his arms as he gave into loud wails of anguish that echoed across the desolate land.....
