We know you deserved better.

Yes this is where I rant about how stupid it was for him to have died the way he did and then some. Maybe when I look back I'll realize that perhaps I'm being overzealous, but आप know what too bad. Rowling killed my प्रिय character and she didn't do it the right way. I know its her book and her characters and her plot, but she can't pull that card when it comes to Snape.

I figured that he was going to die. Dreaded it, but I just figured that with a character like that he wouldn't have much to go for. After all he was the man who killed Dumbledore and even if he had survived the ordeal there would always be that stigma attached to him. All this aside however, I felt that perhaps Death would be the only solution/release that he could find.

I mean imagine if he had lived? I mean not like Rowling would have दिया us any sort of epilogue for him. She would have just faded him out leaving us to wonder what the hell happened to him. Sure the possibilities could be explored in the realm of प्रशंसक fiction, but I digress.

Severus Snape's death once और goes to prove that Rowling lacks the ability to kill people with purpose. Sorry, the whole Elder wand thing was really stupid, Voldemort was a real नितंब, गधा about it too. What an idiot! (Actually to be frank the whole Deathly Hallows could have been done away with...completely pointless). I just can't believe that Severus Snape--who is a talented wizard on चोटी, शीर्ष of being a very successful double-agent--let his guard down so as to allow Nagini (it was still in its protective cage was it not?)to bite him in the neck.

Sorry don't buy it. Someone like that who is very dangerous and was on चोटी, शीर्ष of it Voldemort and Dumbledore's right hand man could not have been so unaware of what was happening if not unaware of his surroundings.

Severus deserved a better death.period. I dunno how, I would have even approved of him giving his life for Harry या taking out a good chunk of the Death Eaters before he died...in any case Severus should have been awarded a विक्टोरियस death! I mean the last words he heard from McGonagal was "COWARD!" and the last people to see him die was Harry, Hermione and Ron, who did very little to ease his passing (given they didn't know that he was on their side). I was just disturbed द्वारा Harry's lack of remorse at the end of the prince's tale. I just felt like he didn't feel bad for what happened to Severus.

And we all know that Severus got the shaft. I mean what a sucky life right? Damn JK Rowling could have just दिया him some glorious death to make it all worth it in the end right? Maybe its just the klingon in me that demands it, but still death द्वारा snake...dumb.

I'm just really कड़वा (I लॉस्ट Commodore Norrington in the same stupid manner not so long ago). Rowling was always talking about how Severus was a gift of a character, but now I feel that she just didn't use him to his fullest extent...what a waste. He hardly appeared in the last book at all. The opening scene was meant to throw the audience off about his loyalties...and then we're left with nothing for the rest of the book.

This sentiment does not only apply to Severus however, also Tonks, Lupin and a several others like Sirius Black. We don't even know how टॉंक्स and Lupin die, we don't know if it was pointless या served some greater good in the end. Sirius' death was just her trying to add unnecessary drama..even his death was shady...

I would like to pretend that Deathly Hallows never happened sort of like तारा, स्टार Trek 5. Unfortunately I can't...sigh...I miss Severus.

Snapealicious You hit the nail on the head, that's just how I feel. Snape is my favorite character as well, and I too feel that JK did a horrible job in handling his fate. Firstly, he was too smart to die the death that he did. Going down in a blaze of glory at the Final Battle, or facing off with Voldemort to give Harry more time would have been more satisfying. I wish he could've lived to see the outcome, to know that his suffering and sacrifice weren't for nothing.

LadyNottingham As much as I don't like him to die, he had to die anyway. Severus is a tragic hero and as such, he had to die. That story is a story of redemption and his death is part of that redemption. He was such a tortured soul, that only death could bring him peace and reunite him with his love Lily. As how he died, I was thinking... by a snake ? Interesting. There are no coincidence. He was a Slytherin, Head of that House whose symbol is... a snake. He spent most of his life slithering between Dumbledore and Voldemort as a successful double-agent. Even his name sounds like... snake. That may explain the way he died. True, I agree that one of the most powerful and talented wizards died stupidly biten by a snake, is just so unfair to him - while he could have died in a glorious feat. But think about it : maybe only a snake could defeat Severus, symbolically = Severus could only be defeated by himself. That's one of the definitions of the tragic hero by the way. Don't get me wrong : he's my favorite character too and the only thing I loathe about him is that he died. However, he still lives on as long as we remember him. That's what fanfiction is all about. I chose to have him to live in my stories. As we cannot change the books, I only hope that the movies will sshow us something grand and moving as far as his death is concerned. I'm confident Alan Rickman will do a great job in this rregard (like he did for the death of the Sheriff of Nottingham in RRH:POT), provided director and screenwriter gives him the opportunity to do so. RIP Severus in both books & movies. But he lives on in fanfic and in places like here. And of course, in all his fans' hearts.

gabyrdzs I miss Snape too!! when was reading that part i cried so much , he is my favorita more than favorite character. I love Severus Snape, my half blood-prince!!!

sevvy Thank goodness for LadyNottingham - she seems to be the only one who's 'got it'! Snape is a tragic hero - that's the point! I absolutely hated the fact that he died, the same as everyone else, but - for the sake of the story - he had too! And, yes, I would have preferred that he died in a different way & with his true allegiance obvious to everyone, but that just wouldn't have made his story so tragic and poignant! LadyNottingham has pretty much said all that I wanted to say (including the bit about having to die at the fangs of Nagini - snake/symbol of Slytherin etc. etc. - glad I'm not the only one who thought that!), so there is little point in repeating what she has said! I also think that Alan Rickman will do justice to the final death scene (if given the scope!) If his former 'death scenes' are anything to go by though, they might have to add on an entire new film (HP8) just to accommodate it! (Anyone seen him 'dying' in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, Rasputin etc?!) No one can do 'death' like AR!! (SS/AR

midnightrose Knew it was gonna go pear-shaped in Deathly Hallows when Rowling gave Hedwig the chop.Was badly traumatised by that!Skipped to epilogue to make sure Harry was okay.Lady Nottingham's view of how story evolves is correct.But lover's of Snape feel cheated.For all his efforts and skill he wasn't rewarded in the end.Harry didn't seem to realise on a deeper level what this guy had done for him.

LadyNottingham Thank you for the nice comments about my rant. I've given some extra thought about Severus' death. I wondered how come such a powerful wizard like him, expert duellist, more than able to defend himself, just DIED on us like that ? He still had his wand in hand ! Then I re-read the Unbreakable Vow scene. Here's my idea : Severus died willingfully when he heard Voldemort ranting about the Elder Wand. He connected the dots. He was well aware that the true master of the Wand was at some point Draco Malfoy, after the episode in the Astronomy Tower. (Of course, he could not know that Harry had Disarmed Draco in the meantime.) So, in order to buy Draco some time, he let Voldemort believe he was indeed the true master of the Elder Wand. This was a consequence of the Unbreakable Vow he had taken with Narcissa. So, the dynamics behind Severus' death is twofold. Unfortunately. Oh how much I hate Bellatrix - when Severus took that Vow, he was not aware that he would have to die to protect Draco. Everybody (including me) focused on the third part of the Vow, the killing of Albus Dumbledore. But Severus was lost as soon as he had sworn to protect Draco... Alan Rickman gives us a perfect notion of this, the way he looks at the end of the Vow... awesome acting. As for gruesome deaths... just check his portrayal of Judge Turpin in "Sweeney Todd" : his final death in this wonderful movie can give an idea of what his death in DH could be... 'Nuff said.

lovebaltor I know hes my fav too! I was furius when he died! I love him sooooooooooooooo much! But, the killing Dombledore thing wsn't so bad. I mean, he asked Snape to because he new that Draco (That ugly sack of dog crap) woulnd't possible kill him. But still, I LOVE HIM!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG!!!

midnightrose I think that Snape had already 'stoppered' Dumbly's death before he took the Unbreakable Vow.They both knew he was now on borrowed time.In that sense Snape had saved Dumbly's life.If Draco and the Death Eaters had not arrived on the Astronomy Tower what would Snape have done to Dumbly?What did Dumbly really want him to do?

HecateA I understand, a snake? How the heck did Severus Snape get defeated by a stupid snake? But its all for IMPACT. JK want to make people mad, to make them sad and reading the nice comments made above, she did (you can turn caps lock off BTW). Still, a snake? I guess Voldemort was too lazy to kill him himself. But you understand he had to die a slow death to give Harry the memories right? And here's an idea, Snape didn't try to defend himself. He knew Harry was there and if he killed the snake or tried to protect himself Voldemort would kill him anyways, so he took the death (not knowing killing Nagini would've saved Harry some trouble) knowing the venom would give him enough time ot give Harry the memories.

In war, real war, people die. They die in shocking, stupid, humiliating pointless reasons. JK wanted you to feel upset about the deaths of her characters (except, maybe Voldemort). She wanted you to be angry and sad. She wanted to portray the way life really is - Snape died a humiliating, pointless death. But, it needed to happen. If only for shock and awe value. And I agree with this statement 100%: "Actually to be frank the whole Deathly Hallows could have been done away with...completely pointless." Also the point about JK not using him to his full potential.

TheSilverDoe I'm not sure I agree that Rowling didn't like Snape. I come to this conclusion by the oart at the end where Harry has named his son after him and goes on to tell him that 'he was probabaly the bravest man I ever knew'. That's nice :) However, I am mortified that he died and agree that he could've had more time in the book and certainly have been given a more victorious death. It would've been awesome if he had died trying to protect Harry by throwing himself infront of him or...something. It would've been even better to let him live though....I'd love to have seen the meeting between him and Harry once Harry learned the truth about him.

jbduenweg07 Post this on Rowling's site, or try to find a way for her to read this. DH needs a rewrite - badly! Maybe, Yates being Yates, will have an easter egg at the end of Dh pt. 2 and have Snape seem like he survived and left the scene. Snape's death didn't do him justice. Neither the fact that he died at all. Nobody gave the poor guy a second chance except Dumbledore! =(

snowwhite2 I agree with LadyH in everything except that Severus and the others did not have to die. jk (mad at jk-she gets lower case letters) did not have to write it in such a way. she could have vindicated him and showed him for the true,brave, loyal, noble man (character) he is. She said his character is based on a teacher she had that she didn't like. gee-thanks for taking it out on Severus ;P (supposed to be angry eyes w/sticking out tongue) she Obviously,didn't read her own work and just wanted a quick -kill them all so she could stop writing about them ending. senseless. (I agree about Norrington- why do writers like to kill off all the good men? Very Bad trend.) Since it IS just a story, I don't have to choose her ending. BlackHound Yeah, if only that was really him, and not just a very clever fan who's also suffering. Great idea though, I enjoy the read. I give the blogger LOTS of kudos. For me, I don't miss Snape. Not a bit. I don't miss him because he's in my heart, and has been since the very first time I saw him. Severus Snape is a part of me, he's always with me, and always will be. I've loved an awful lot of characters in my long life, some of them (like the heroes Tolkien gave life to) I've loved very deeply...but there's never been anyone like him. And no one will ever take his place. The ancient Egyptians, who knew very nearly almost everything a mortal human can know about Life and Death and *still* be mortal, believed that a person's Name was full of powerful Magick. This belief was summed up in a simple saying, and it's one of the dearest to my heart. "Say my Name and I shall Live." I speak the name of Severus Snape at least twice a day; I know that somewhere, even if it's only in the hearts of those of us who truly love him, he's alive.
