Saturday Night Fever - Male Characters
Tony Manero: He's the main protagonist in the film played by John Travolta (Grease). He's a Brooklyn, New Yorker who has a dead end job, parents who pressure him a lot with a father who was fired and a homemaker mother, he has a brother, Frank Jr who quits church as a priest. He has four friends, Joey, Bobby C, Double J and Gus. His former dancer was Annette who wants to be more than friends and he disagrees. He finds a woman in the club named Stephanie Mangano. She becomes his new dancing partner.
Bobby C: He's Tony's youngest friend played by Barry Miller (Fame). Bobby C has a Catholic girlfriend, Pauline who's pregnant. He wants her to get an abortion. He tries to get advice from people including Frank Jr who feels it's wrong. Bobby C gets depressed and loses his mind on the Verrazano-Narrows bridge. He falls off and dies from many feet below.
Joey: He's one of Tony's Italian friends who is played by Joseph Cali (Today's FBI, Flatbush). He's the handsome dark friend who has an interest in Annette as he stated in the film "Hey, listen are you gonna make it with Annette?" Annette doesn't know about him wanting her. In the end, he has sex with her while being intoxicated and Annette taking too much 'Speed'. Annette also chose Double J, too, by her being high from drugs, she gets raped by Double J. Joey holds her by affection during the scene as Bobby went nuts. Joey protects her during the middle of a crisis. Joey and Annette are unknown in the film's sequel, Stayin' Alive since they never returned.
Double J: He's Tony's badass friend played by Paul Pape (Voice over actor). He the first guy in the film to have sex with a woman. He sides with Joey as a best friend and he drives Bobby C's car in the Barracuda club building to attack the gang who did likely beat up their friend, Gus. Double J in the end rapes Annette and tries to help Tony to get Bobby C off the bridge just before Bobby falls to his death below.
