Personally, I am seeing all kinds of genres that I listen to getting an equal amount of approval as well as disapproval. Besides, we have a certain member called zanhar1 in here so all aspects of Music get appreciated on a regular basis !!!!
Not at all religious, but traditional religious music lol. Not western hymns coz lots of people like those, I mean weirder shit like link and link. At least I haven't met anyone else that's into it lol.
^Dude I love that stuff! It's so relaxing. I also really love Gregorian chants, like what Quire of Voyces performs.
None of the genres I like are actually universally hated. Of course a lot of people who don't listen to metal aren't going to understand technical death metal and whatnot and are going to trash it, but inside the metal community it's quite respected. That being said, a large portion of the metal community isn't very fond of certain bands or genres evolving into something else over time; a lot of black metal purists don't like black metal subgenres such as symphonic black metal or atmospheric black metal, but I adore those genres and like them a lot more than traditional first-wave black metal, much to the horror of black metal purists everywhere.
In RL, though, almost no one I've met likes the same kind of metal I do. I've got 2 or 3 relatives that know of and/or like Nightwish, Alestorm, and Amon Amarth, my Fiction Writing professor from last year is a fan of symphonic metal (!!!!), and some guys from my high school wore Dream Theater, Blind Guardian, and Rhapsody of Fire band shirts, but that's about it it. Every other rock/metal fan I've met in RL prefers either metalcore, deathcore, and the like, like Bring Me the Horizon or Asking Alexandria, and they don't really delve into other genres, or they only listen to alternative/nu-metal like Avenged Sevenfold or System of a Down.
@Princes I can dig it lol. But then again I can get into most anything. Gregorian chants (as mentioned by Arctic) are the shit lol. I think chant style music can be very intriguing.
@Arctic I find it much harder to come by fans of Symphonic Metal and Folk Metal IRL. My one friend is a fan of Ghost Lovescore but he didn't know who it was by lol. Don't know anyone else whose into Folk Metal.
^I think it's just hard to find people who've heard of bands outside of classic metal like Black Sabbath, Metallica, Iron Maiden, Slayer, etc. If I mention I listen to Megadeth most people know who they are, but if I say I also like Eluveitie or Advent Sorrow they have no idea who I'm talking about.
Yeah I find that happening very often too. Unless I'm actually at a concert for a band like Eluveitie. But simply coming by a person is harder. At least in the U.S. I don't know how it would be in Europe where these bands seem to be more popular.
Lol yesss we need that. I could make one later tonight when I get home. But I'm with you on the black magic fuckery lol; I mean I've done it before, they turned out decentish, but it takes so much time and I'm so lazy lmao.

I would, but making banners is the equivalent of black magic fuckery to me. Absolutely clueless lol.
