Why is Chips ahoy called "Chips ahoy"

They are plainly cookies, NOT CHIPS. And Also, what do चॉकलेट chip कुकीज़ have to do with pirates? I प्यार प्यार LOVe chips ahoy, but why that name?

When they say chips, they mean the चॉकलेट chips in the cookies. Pirates used to say "Ship ahoy" when they saw a ship या say "Ships ahoy" when they saw a number of ships. So because 'Chips' rhymes with 'Ships' and because they are trying to say that there are visibly many चॉकलेट chips in the cookie, they called them 'Chips Ahoy'.
