Is this just a silly British thing?

Well, in Britain we don't really say pwned, so when I saw it here I naturally thought it was an American thing, but I thought it was pronounced "pawned" not "poned" ahaha I only found out when watching a very potter sequel.

Most british people pronounce it as "Tomarto" and most Americans pronounce it as "Tomaito" :)
