I don't celebrate Christmas

I'm jewish, so I always wish people a happy holidays (if they are not jewish).

i celebrate christmas, but i want everyone to have a happy kwanza, ramadan, hanukkah, and new years.....but thats just too much of a mouthfull!

I really hate it that a few wet blankets are ruining tradition, we have been saying Merry Cristmas to eachother for hundreds of years, and now we have to change it because some guy in Conneticut is offended by it, and it's not just this, in fact it started with this. First it was the Happy Holliday's thing in the United States, then it was the not saying of ho ho ho by mall Santa's in Australia. Then the non ringing of bells for the Salvation Army Buckets in Canada. Eventually every Christmas song (that's right CHRISTMAS song) is going to have to have a blend of jewish music, African music, Chinese music, and Russian music, for every religious celebration. Keep things the way they are and always have been. Merry Cristmas, and a happy New Year to everyone!

Happy Holidays seems akward to me. I celebrate Christmas, but the commercial christmas, and not the sacred version.

It doesn't matter. There aren't many Jews where I live so I don't have to worry about it. :D

where i live there r soooo many people from different backgrounds and different religions but its still "merry christmas" with everyone i know so :P. and personally i dont see a difference between "merry xmas" and "happy holidays". peopele argue over the stupidest things.

i just had this conversation iwth some of my friends.
i dont see the problem with "happy holidays", and i don't think it means we're loosing our culture.

i mean, it might be kind of weird if someone wished me a happy hanukka, right?
and besides, if i don't know what religion someone belongs to or what holiday they celebrate, im not just gunna guess, i want everyone to be happy this time of year! :)
i dont care if your happy because its christmas or kwanza or whatever, its the time to be jolly!

Like Dr D, I also say "Happy Holidays" but I don't get my panties in a wad if someone says "Merry Christmas." (yes, my panties are very relaxed and loose right now)

TVMan I couldn't agree more, too many things are being banned because they're "offensive" to some A-hole, and yet we're supposed to accept everyone else's cultures and differences.

We are told to accept homosexuals and people of different orrientations and beliefs, yet we are also told not to express our own cultures and beliefs because they are offensive. Here is the stupidity of political correctnss:

People can't say "blackboard" anymore.

Someone tried to ban hot-cross-buns.

In England, we are told to not put up our own flag because it might offend muslims.

Some people are complaining that they find Christmas lights and Christmas trees offensive.

Someone tried to change "Christmas" into "Winter break".

To be honest, if I do something which is politically incorrect as a result of expressing my beliefs I will completley ignore that law; and continue doing it just to protest freedom of speech and worship. If I get in serious legal trouble for it I'll try to gather as many people from my area as I can, and we'll go to the shopping mall with microphones and shout whatever comes to our minds. Now THAT, is what I call protesting!

I don't really care! I'm agnostic, but I don't care if people wish me a merry christmas. I tend to say this, but it really doesn't matter to me.

P.S. @ knifewrench -- at my school, it is called "Winter" break.

I think it was Birmingham that tried to call it 'Winterval' as a marketing ploy. Didn't go down well, luckily.

I am so sick of political correctness! Argh!
