CHAPTER THREE
~ Of Thursday and the Times ~

“All right, men, none of us want to see Marlene shipped out of here, so we need to come up with the right plan to block it,” Skipper declared as he took his सीट at the तालिका, टेबल with the other penguins. “I want to hear every possible option.”

Rico grinned at the thought of every possible option, and promptly regurgitated a stick of dynamite.

“Kaboom! Kaboom!” he mumbled as he pulled the stick from his mouth. “Ha, ha, ha!”

Skipper shook his head.

“I like your attitude, Rico,” he said, “but what would we blow up, Marlene’s habitat? We kind of need that.”

As Rico then began to re-swallow his dynamite, a thought popped into Kowalski’s head.

“What’s so special about Thursday?” he wondered.

“What do आप mean, Kowalski?” Skipper inquired.

“I mean, when Marlene was talking to us, she कहा that she overheard Alice tell the two men she was with that she could have everything arranged to ship Marlene out on Thursday,” he responded. “Something tells me that those men needed to be guaranteed of this.”

“That ‘something’ is your gut, Kowalski,” Skipper replied as he smiled.

“But why?” Private asked.

“The gut can’t always tell आप why, Private,” Skipper replied. “But recon usually can.”

“You really think this is worth looking into?” Kowalski asked.

“Yeah, I do,” Skipper replied. “Who knows what kind of crooked backroom deal that zookeeper and those men might have cooked up together.”

Skipper then glanced up at the clock.

“Looks like Alice is still on her break,” he said. “Let’s roll on out of here and see if we can uncover some जवाब down at her office.”

And with that, the four set off for Alice’s office; sliding on their bellies the whole way, they reached it in no time, and were pleased to find the door unlocked.

“Search every drawer, open every filing cabinet,” Skipper ordered as they all entered. “Look everywhere, men; leave no stone unturned.”

As the team began to look for something to tell them just why Thursday was the दिन that Marlene had to be shipped out on, Kowalski spotted something.

“Ah, Skipper,” he कहा as he stood on चोटी, शीर्ष of Alice’s desk, pointing at a rock she used as a paperweight, “I think this may be the stone आप were referring to.”

“What do आप got there, Kowalski?” Skipper asked as he approached the desk.

Kowalski picked up the pieces of paper that were under the rock and skimmed them over before replying.

“It’s a cover letter and an accepted purchase order from the St. Louis Zoo,” he said. “Apparently they’re paying the Central Park Zoo $14,000 for a female otter.”

“Anything there about the Thursday mystery?” Private inquired.

“I was just getting to that,” Kowalski replied. “It says that they want to purchase a female ऊद, ओटर, ऊदबिलाव promptly, and if they cannot get ours द्वारा Thursday, they will rescind their offer and obtain an ऊद, ओटर, ऊदबिलाव from some other zoo.”

“Well, today is Monday, so that gives us three days to somehow block this abomination,” Skipper declared. “This zoo just wouldn’t be the same without Marlene.”

“Wouldn’t be the same?” Kowalski pondered as he rubbed his lower beak with a flipper. “Skipper! That’s exactly it!”

“What’s it?” Skipper wondered.

“Think about it, Skipper, the zoo really wouldn’t be the same without Marlene,” Kowalski replied. “Since she’s the only ऊद, ओटर, ऊदबिलाव here, the humans have come to expect to see her whenever they visit the zoo. I bet if they knew that there was a plan to ship our only ऊद, ओटर, ऊदबिलाव away, they would revolt and protest in front of the zoo armed with pitchforks.”

“Pitchforks?” Skipper questioned puzzledly.

“Well, maybe they wouldn’t get that up in arms,” Kowalski conceded, “but it would probably create a public relations nightmare for the zoo.”

“You really want to get the humans involved?” Skipper questioned. “Is that wise?”

“If we do it the right way it is,” Kowalski replied. “But, unfortunately, I do not know what that way is.”

After momentary silence, Private raised a flipper and jumped up with an idea.

“Oh, how about we send a copy of the papers दिखा रहा है Marlene’s scheduled transfer to The New York Times?” he suggested. “They’ll spread the word all across the city.”

Skipper shook his head.

“Private, do आप really think that The New York Times has time for an ऊद, ओटर, ऊदबिलाव story?” Skipper questioned skeptically. “Aren’t they busy enough already giving premium advertising rates to organizations that they agree with?”

“What?” Private asked, confused.

“Oh, never mind,” Skipper shrugged, then tapping a flipper on Private’s shoulder. “All right, young Private, I guess it is at least worth a shot.”

Upon hearing his leader’s comments, Kowalski waddled over to the copy machine in the corner of the room and made a copy of the papers दिखा रहा है that Marlene was to be transferred. Unlike the last time he had tried using a copy machine, he did not inadvertently copy his tailfeather region in the process.

“Here आप are, sir,” Kowalski कहा once he completed the copies and handed them to Skipper.

“Thanks,” Skipper कहा as he accepted them, then turning to Private. “Private, आप and Rico go tell Marlene about ‘Operation: Inform the Media’ while I stay here with Kowalski to get these papers ready to go out in the mail.”

Private nodded as he and Rico then began to leave Alice’s office.

“Wait!” Skipper then called to them. “I almost forgot, but Rico, I’m going to need a stamp.”

Rico then immediately hacked-up and handed his leader a postage stamp.

“It’s a good thing this stamp is the peel-and-stick type,” Skipper chuckled as he took it from Rico, “because it would probably be ruined if it was the kind आप have to lick.”

As Rico and Private then left Alice’s office to tell Marlene of the plan to expose her transfer in the pages of The New York Times, Kowalski handed Skipper an envelope that he had addressed to the paper’s news bureau.

“Kowalski, why did आप write your real name and the zoo’s address in the return address अंतरिक्ष on this envelope?” Skipper questioned as he looked it over.

“Well, why not?” Kowalski wondered as he shrugged his shoulders. “I mean, it’s not like any human will ever know that there’s really a पेंगुइन named ‘Kowalski A. Kowalski’ at the Central Park Zoo.”

“I guess,” Skipper somewhat hesitantly agreed as he put the papers inside the envelope, sealed it, and affixed the postage. “So, is there even a mailbox around here that a पेंगुइन can actually reach?”

“Not exactly,” Kowalski replied as he motioned for Skipper to follow him out of Alice’s office, “but I’ll lift आप up so that आप can drop the envelope in.”

Skipper then followed Kowalski down to the nearest mailbox. Upon arrival, Kowalski lifted Skipper द्वारा the feet so that he could place the envelope inside.

“In the mailbox today,” Skipper टिप्पणी जोड़ा गया हे as he released the envelope, “on Page 1 tomorrow.”

And with that, the envelope was off to The New York Times. And Skipper just couldn’t wait to read the अगला morning’s edition.

Day 3

Skipper paced back and forth in the narrow walkway. He’d look out the small window in the door, and he began humming to fill the silence. Hans started to get irritated. “What’s the matter with you? Are आप having a seizer?” He asked smart-allecky.

“No! It’s just killing me not knowing what’s going on!”

“So in other words you’re starting to go crazy?”

“In a way I guess.”

“Well don’t get your feathers in a twist we’ll be out of here द्वारा tomorrow afternoon.”

“Seems like years away.”

“What did Eve say to you?”

“All she was able to tell me is that my team...

She was looking at herself in the mirror. She couldn't believe her eyes. She never thought that her life would come to this and, even if she had, she thought it would be just part of some dream या imagination from her fairy tale loving younger self. तितलियों fluttered in her stomach from being excited and nervous.
"This will definitely be the best दिन of your life, Monique," Marlene said, remembering her wedding दिन with Skipper.
"What if things don't go well? Maybe he'll change his mind at the last minute, maybe something could go wrong," Monique stuttered, thinking about the relationship...

It took only a few सेकंड्स for me to process her words before I realized she'd let go of my foot. In less than two सेकंड्स I hit the freezing water. I couldn't see..I couldn't breathe. You'd think a पेंगुइन would know how to swim. I hadn't really दिया it much thought up 'till now. My दिल nearly stopped when I realized I couldn't swim..and the surface of the water above me was getting further and further away. I paddled my flippers wildly trying to get to the surface. No use. I didn't make much distance and I was running out of what little breath I'd had in the first place. My lungs screamed...

Chapter 2: A Mistaken Chosen One

Once again, Private wrote down everything about the dream again. Who is this close person that will be mistakenly picked as the chosen one? he thought. He hid it under his तकिया and went to sleep again.

Later in the morning, Messenger Xai Lang arrived. "Mail for Skipper."he said. Xai Lang dropped the scroll and then flew away. Then, Skipper got it. He opened it and read to see a happy news.

Dear Skipper,

Congratulations! आप are chosen to be the chosen one according to your ascendants. आप will fight, die and save the world. Leave your city tomorrow. Once again,...

I eventually found out why they called the ship 'The Green Bucket'. After a few days I was as sick as a dog. What's worse I had to stay down in the ships' hold where no one on board could see me. After a few days spent in a rocking नाव I either got used to it या just simply ran out of stuff to barf up. Either way, I felt a bit better after while. Then one unexpecting morning some wise crack came down into the hold to my level. Let me just say he wasn't standing up down there too much. Every time he'd wake up I'd एक प्रकार का जहाज़ him into अगला tuesday. Finally I had to start hitting the other eye because...

I saw the sun flash off of the चाकू and into my eyes. I clamped my eyes shut and waiting for my life to end. Nothing happened. I opened my eyes to find Hans staring at me with resentment in his eyes. "What's the matter Hans? You'd rather turn me in?" I scoffed. It's not like I wanted to get killed द्वारा this demented dane, but I was a bit confused at him. He sat up, "Skipper..I can't kill you..you're the only friend still alive." he admitted with a sob I knew was fake. I narrowed my eyes in paranoid suspicion.
"Hans, let me get this straight. आप set me up as though I had actually KILLED one of...

The tallest and the smartest पेंगुइन locked himself in his lab again. Not always is he the sharpest चाकू in the drawer. He tried drilling the door but last time he did this, he was stupid enough to replace the door with one of the hardest material know to man.

“Dang it!” Kowalski कहा drilling the door. It didn't even make a dent in the door. “Why did I even use this material??”

“Alright time for another theory.” Kowalski picked up one of Rico's आग बंदूकों that he was making modifications to and adding और tools to use. “Fire in the hole!” Kowalski yelled blasting the door....

Skipper, the ब्रेव fierce leader, कहा he would never cry. Obviously, he hadn't had this happen yet. On the ground infront of him was the craziest पेंगुइन of them all Rico. His fallen comrad was to injured to be fixed.

"Rico!" Skipper कहा shaking the wounded penguin. "Don't आप dare die on me! Be strong!"

Rico's eyes looked like they were glued shut. They wouldn't open no matter what. Blood from where the lazer had hit him. "Rico please!"

"Well Peng-you-in." The phychotic Dr.Blowhole smirked, moving अगला to the very depressed penguin. "Looks like your team is one short. Once again I have become...

The penguins were now making their way through the streets of New York. Skipper was on point, signaling for his men to go when the time was right. So far so good. Not a soul has seen them yet…well…except for a rottweiler, रोट्विइलर that an unfortunate dog-walker had to deal with as it barked for what seemed like forever.

Skipper made another signal for the other three to pass. Kowalski constantly stumbled over his feet, considering he didn’t remember any of the training he’d had. But Private, being as concerned as expected from the young cadet, was...

While the other penguins fished on the boat, Private sat on the dock, sticking his feet in the water. The पेंगुइन felt the मछली dash under his legs. A gust of wind nearly blew him over, scattering his Peanutbutter Winkies out of their bag.
Something smooth bumped his legs. Squinting, he peered into the water. An unfamiliar face stared into his. It was deeply sadden and filled with despair. The eyes were unforgettably a milky white. She was an astonishing creature.
Private was stunned. The rest of the team noticed.
"Private, आप okay, over there?" Skipper called.
The shivering पेंगुइन didn't and...

Not many guys think about what it would be like to be utterly bored. Some don't even know the feeling. I recall a few dull momments in my chickhood, but the boredom I was under was ridiculas. I'd undergone torture in the battle station, but I was sure that, that night in that cell had to be the worst torture yet. It's bad enough to have to sleep on the cold, wet floor with nothing to do, no one to talk to, and only the rats to keep आप company, but when the gaurd starts singing..sweet mother macarthur I think that's got to be well exceding agony. Julien: Then do it as quickly as आप can!

Maurice: *puts केला, केले in the blender* Okay, your majesty.

Finally the lights flashed on, and without having any contact with the door, Skipper and Private witnessed it slam open before their own eyes. "Come on," Skipper said. "No, no, I can't go in there! No!" Private whined like he was in a trance. Skipper grasped his flipper, and dragged him inside. Skipper kept his grip tight until he found Kowalski and Rico द्वारा the stairs. "Are आप both all right?!" Skipper asked startled. "Yes, but something happened in the basement." Kowalski कहा out of breath. "All right, Rico, take Private upstairs and keep an eye on him. I remember that still moment when near father and son gazed into each other's eyes. Leeland's gray eyes were filled with so many emotions I could hardly understand; yet I had quite a few feelings milling around inside of me as well. Leeland seemed as though he could almost say, 'What the heck..' Then he really DID say it. His voice trailed off and his beak कहा something inaudible. I looked down at my blood-stained feathers. Then it hit me. This looked perfectly clear that I'd killed the general. I knew full well that I hadn't, but Leeland and his armed companions didn't know so. I didn't have...

Still Skipper's View

"Yes!" the man cried. "I knew it! Time is frozen!"
I tell द्वारा tone on voice that the man was Kowalski.
"Hey, how did I get all the way up here?" the man (Kowalski) asked himself.
He pulled up his new hand and looked at it.
"Ahhh!! Fingers!" he screamed.
"Told ya it wasn't the Stopwatch," Johnson said, who had got out of a bunk.
"And that is why आप shouldn't disobey my orders," I joked.
By now, we were all out of our hiding spaces.
"Stop making all those weird noises, Skipper and Johnson," Kowalski said. "I can't understand a word आप two are saying!"
"Of course!" Ivy said....

I looked around the clearing. My eyes falling on a black and white form beside me. He was soaked in blood. I put a flipper on the penguin's chest. He was dead as doornail. I couldn't have been wrong. Had he been shot too? I looked around. No one was there. I got to my feet and walked a distance. If Hans had been shot surely he wouldn't have gotton this far. Then another thought entered my mind.
