If you do it's definitely Brucas! Their story and love developed over 2 seasons, season 1 was pretty much just for fun...and in season 2 they actually built up a friendship before throwing themselves at each other (:

4 whole seasons of build up, the first time around!
And 1 whole season of build up, the second time around! :)

It's hard not to be bias but Haley and Nathan has just been from the start to the present the most built up couple for me!!
But if your talking about the new season starting it's Quinn and Clay for me so far!!

I'd say the couples with the most build up would be Jake & Peyton and Keith & Karen. Maybe I have a different definition of build up as others... but I think of "build up" as a couple with whom we watch their relationship develop and they begin to have feelings for one another as they spend more time together and both people want to be together but the timing doesn't work. I think each relationship had that at SOME point, but these two couples had it the most. For me it was like so much of season 1 was Jake and Peyton getting to know each other and supporting one another and then for the rest of the first season and so much of season 2 Peyton was waiting and waiting for Jake to come back to Tree Hill and so upset and we watch her struggling so much... but we know that Jake feels the same way too... and then he comes back and we get that "FINALLY" feeling. Same with her visiting him in season 3.
With Keith and Karen... it was like you knew they both were crazy about one another and they would spend more and more time together and watch each other fall and pick each other up and then when they finally made it work in season 3 it was such a relief. Their story had almost 2 decades of build up! Now I'm thinking I should change my pick to Keith & Karen instead... so hard to choose!

I think leyton definitely had their build up in season 5- there was sooo much leyton stuff that season- but it was more about tension building up then the development of their relationship... and I just think it was crazy that it skipped right to a finalized engagement without first just trying to be in a relationship, but obviously many leyton fans would disagree. I think Brucas has their buildup in season 2- I was sitting at the edge of my seat waiting for them to confess their feelings for one another since we knew they were both falling in love but neither of them knew the other felt the same way. I would have said season 5 was also major Brucas build up but it didn't lead to anything- so I don't know if it counts as build up if it's not actually building up to something. Naley had the buildup at the the end of season 2, beginning of season 3-- but it didn't last long because they got together rather quickly (not that I'm complaining). Brulian had it at the end of season 6 and then again in the middle-end of season 7. But I think both Naley and Brulian got together pretty quickly so while their relationships developed while they were together- their wasn't much time to build up to the relationship.

umm idk? BL had a lot of build up w/ s2 up to s3. LP was super rushed s4, but had a story progressing in s5. Jeyton had their build up s1 and a good part of s2. naley had no build up, they got together the quickest, heck they met dated and got married all in one season LMFAO. and brulian was kinda random too?

There is jus no comparison, LP had most build up overall in seasons 1, 3, 4 and 5. Like season 3 : "It´s always going to be there, you and me ", episode 3x16, 3x21..and so on.
Even if I don´t like BL, I acknowledge that they had build up in season 2 and 3.
Naley got together so fast, there wasn´t really build up. Jeyton had a bit I guess.
Just because you don´t like a couple, or refuse to see their build up, it does not mean it´s not there. It´s unbelievable how biased people can be..

^^Also I think that bias works both both ways. And just because you like a couple doesn't make them 'the most' everything for every pick. Just sayin.

Anyways, Really the most consistant thing about this entire show. Naley without a doubt. They were the ONLY couple that was consistantly built from the very begining. Yes they got together early but they continued to build they didn't stall like some couples and they've continued to be the most functional, healthy relationship on the show as they continue to BUILD to this day because they've come a long way from being two high school kids who got married in high school.

Leyton was built up in season one that poofed for awhile and I can see were people would say Leyton was rushed as far as them getting together in season 4. There wasn't really a build up there Lucas literally went from one episode being all about Brooke to all of a sudden being in love with Peyton once again. Hence the rush people have been speaking of. Were Leyton built up? Yes. Did they have points were they were rushed? Yes.

The fact of the matter is that Lucas flipped flopped so much from brooke to peyton and back and forth and than Lindsey that none of these couples really had a lot of truely consistant build over the season.

Honestly, I think Brulian! Their relationship is substantial and realistic and they really had the best build-up.
They started off with sexual tension, attraction, lots of eye-sex and some rivalry. Soon they got more attracted - giving actually reasons to fall for each other: Brooke was charmed by Julian's wit, protectiveness and the fact that he cared about her and Sam and Julian was really impressed by Brooke's strength and personality. After that they got normally in a relationship: first date, more reasons for their romance, first kiss, more reasons, sleeping together, more reasons, Julian saying that he loves her and Brooke being actually scared (not saying it back), Julian leaving and Brooke not following him like they do in the movies, spending time alone, meeting again, Brooke realizing that she loves him and finally telling to him!
Then in season 7, they really developed as a couple - facing different situations before getting engaged: long-distance relationship, approaching the issue of marriage and children, Brooke learning that she can't have kids, Julian supporting her, a third person in their relationship, Brooke having to get over her trusting issues, being a power couple... And now in Season 8 they actually get to plan their wedding and having preparations.
IMO they were given perfect storylines and managed to develop as a couple - nothing was too rushed, nothing seemed to forced.

*Brucas*- S2 and S3! I mean they are pretty much Brucas seasons...
Jeyton= had lots of S1 and Lots of S2 so that was a lot of build up
Leyton= They had S1 but until S4 [[actually I guess Peyton's feelings in late S3 would be considered build-up]] they really had nothing. Their friendship didn't even develop in S2. They barely intereacted... so that's not 4 seasons... I think there should have been more build up for them honestly...
Naley= Had about 8 episodes of build up. BUT when they split they did have loads of build up until they finally became "Naley" again.
Brulian=.... I don't know much of their relationship...

I can't see the so much build-up of Leyton how everyone says i mean from season 1-6 , yes they had but not every season.In season 2 half of it they barely talked and then Jeyton , that's build-up ?and so it is in season 3 except 3x16.
