Although at the very beginning he had cast an eye at Peyton (season 1) nothing more than a kiss happened between them and I don't think you can call that real love yet, because love takes time. He had a crush on her - yes. I also wouldn't say he really was in love with Brooke when they were together in season 1. Also a crush.
But then, towards the end of season 2 and in season 3 he actually wanted to be together with Brooke, he was quite obsessed with her and kept saying she was the one. We saw his strong feelings, we saw how he suffered when she slept with Chris Keller, yeah...So I'd say that his first real love was Brooke in season 3.

Of course you could also say that Peyton was his first love, because she was the first one he "wanted", although there's a difference between having a crush on someone and actually being in love with that person and I think what they had in season 1 was just a crush. Still Lucas has always been there for Peyton in season 2 and 3 and I think he had feelings for her too, so , yeah, tough question :/

lol, if there was no season 6 this would be open to interpretation. Lucas talked about his belief that he and Peyton were meant for each other because he felt it in his heart. He mentioned that in 113. The song lyrics playing in the background during that scene were: "I wanna know what it's like, on the inside of love, standing at the gate, I see the beauty of Love." Lucas never came out and told Peyton he loved her because honestly, their affair was so short lived, and there were so many factors that kept them too busy to be able to sit down and declare much (brooke, friends, car accident, brooke again, lol).
Anyhow, season 6 or no season 6 I always believed/knew that Peyton was Luke's true love. And that fact was confirmed in 623 (Leyton wedding: "I have loved you since the first time I saw you. And this ring and these words are just simply a way to show the rest of the world what has been in my heart for as long as I've known you. I love you. I always have, and I always will.")

Yeah, I guess he also had feelings for Peyton all the time when he was together with Brooke :) which is pretty cute for Leyton <3
Anyways that doesn't mean he didn't love Brooke. I'm slowly starting to think that this guy had two first loves -if that makes any sense. *gg*
No seriously, in season 3 he kept saying that Brooke was the one. In season 6 he appearantly says the he always loved Peyton. And these two statements alone don't really fit together.

I have watched the first 3 seasons now and the Brucas relationship in season 3 was a little..I don't know. It felt a little weird sometimes, as if it wouldn't match a 100%.
That he said he loved Peyton from the first time he saw her - yeah, fun. Lol. Sorry Lucas, but that is just suuch a cheesy thing to say. There's no love at first sight, I would have believed him if he'd said that he had found her beautiful and wanted to get to know her more and such things, but why did he have to exaggerate?
Is his love for Peyton worth less, just because he had feelings for Brooke too and was torn apart between them for some time? Why would it mean less just because it took him time to find out whom he really wanted?
What I tried to say with this is that I think it's not an easy question and you have to look at more than one sentence from a happy groom.:)
And after all it's not important who his first love was, maybe it was simply Peyton and Brooke.

As much as I loved and still love Brucas, I've always said that Lucas always loved Peyton, from the very beginning..

Well of course it's gonna be different for everyone. Personally, I don't mind answering these questions, I think we should be able to have a debate without insulting each other and our preferences. It's hard sometimes, but I think that it's possible.

In my eyes, Lucas has loved Peyton since the beginning. I'm not saying Brucas weren't in love in s2-s3, but they definitely were NOT in love in season 1. Not Lucas anyway. The way I see it, in season 1 Leyton's feelings were EXTREMELY true & deep, but like Abs said, they never got a chance to sit down and talk about it like that. Even when Lucas was with Brooke in season 1, he still wanted Peyton, & it was obvious, to me at least, that it was WAY more than a crush. I also think that the way Mark wanted us to see it, is that it has always been Lucas & Peyton, from the beginning, and even though they both moved on to other relationships, and even fell in love with other people, their love for each other was always supposed to win out in the end. & it did.

We flat out heard Peyton say that she loved Lucas in season one. Therefore yes, he was her first love. Or he atleast DID come before Jake

Yeah peytons first love was definitely Lucas. None of those feelings that she had for Jake was anything that she hadn't already felt for Lucas in season 1. She was in DEEP with Lucas, and she did in fact admit to haley that she was in love with him. Not to mention comments made such as "when Lucas looks at me, he really SEES me, right down to my soul", and "do you really think I would risk losing my best friend over a fling? Because I wouldn't do that". Lucas was def her first love!

You can think Brooke was Luke's first true love that's your opinion, but you can't ignore facts like 301 - I mean....seriously?? Right after Peyton said "Considering our history...." - as in season ONE. Luke responded by saying "It's (their history/their connection) always gonna be there isn't it? You and me." And for the record, there was no awkwardness with BL's I love you in season 5. There was definite awkwardness in 301. You can't compare the two scenes to that capacity. At least not IMO. Leyton never denied that they still cared about eachother ("Honestly I care about Peyton" "Then WHAT is the difference??" - Brooke knew Luke and Peyton still had feelings for each other and always feared that they'd start things up again because of it. But in some of s2 and in s3 luke was too in love with Brooke to deal with his feelings for Peyton. Hence all the awkward messes in season 3 that constantly made brooke wonder where luke's heart lied). Luke's heart was with Brooke in season 3 but it was still conflicted. It's what Brooke kept responding to time and time again:

301/303/308 and more...Luke always seemed to open up to Peyton, not Brooke despite the fact that he was pursuing her.

310: In a heartbeat, Luke jumped at leaving town to help Peyton the same morning he and Brooke reconciled. Even peyton knew it was messed up, but Luke just had to insist. Not to mention when he talked to Brooke and she said she needed him, he still chose to help Peyton.
