Mistystar sat on top of the Highdune and watched as her Clanmates gathered beneath it.
"Cats of OceanClan,"
She began, the sunlight sparkling in her eyes.
"Fernkit, Skykit, and Ravenkit are ready to become apprentices."
She beckoned the kits with her tail to stand beneath her. She leaped down and touched Ravenkit with her tail.
"From this day forward, this kit shall be known as Ravenpaw."
Ravenpaw's eyes shone as he nodded to his leader.
Mistystar looked back to the Clan.
"And Featherwing shall mentor him!"
Featherwing strode up to Ravenpaw and touched noses with the her new apprentice.
"And this kit," Mistystar turned to Fernkit.
"...until she has earned her warrior name she shall be Fernpaw! And Starlingwing shall mentor her as a medicine cat."
Starlingwing, smiling, touched noses with Fernpaw and sat next to her.
"And last, Skykit."
Mistystar stared deep into Skykit's eyes.
"From this day forward until she has earned her warrior name she will be known as Skypaw."
"And..." Mistystar said.
"...I will mentor her myself."
Skypaw's eyes glittered with surprise as Mistystar leaned down and dabbed her nose with hers.
Mistystar looked back at the Clan.
"The meeting is over," She announced.
Mistystar beckoned to Skypaw to follow her into the leader's den. Skypaw followed happily. Mistystar sat down with her apprentice.
"Skypaw, you're destined for great things."
She told her reluctantly.
"Very great things. Nothing any cat has done before."
Skypaw looked at her with disbeleif and uncertainy in her eyes.
"How?" She asked quietly.
Mistystar sighed.
"You will find out soon enough. Go and make your nest in the appentice's den."
Skypaw flicked her tail and walked out of the leader's den.
