1. Choosing a race/species.
2. Choosing its appearance.
3. Choosing its personality.
However, there are much और complicated steps to creating an actually GOOD OC.
First of many subjects, I shall state races and how आप should execute them.
-EARTH PONIES-
These are best ponies. आप can obviously tell this, because they grow all of the other ponies food, and without कहा food, all other ponies would die. They tend to be stronger and और dexterous than the other species, so try to incorporate this into the appearance/personality of the OC. They also seem to be closer to nature than Pegasi and Unicorns, (Fluttershy seems to be the only exception) so that may also be incorporated into the personality. (hint: Pinkie Sense seems to be tied into nature. Think about it.) Earth ponies are generally pretty goddamn amazing.
-PEGASI-
If आप REALLY don't want to be an Earth Pony, this seems to be the most लोकप्रिय choice for ones who don't want to be one. *cough cough* Pegasi are usually fairly arrogant (Again, Fluttershy is an exception) and not that tough, either. (Sorry, Horse Power.) Again, try and incorporate this into the appearance and personalities.
-UNICORNS-
Generally the smartest of the bunch, but I'm not saying the others are stupid. These ones seem to be the most sophisticated, and also appear to be the ones responsible for a lot of the science and technology developments in Equestria. They generally do the delicate work, such as sewing या organizing. Which is why I'm surprised Drift (FiM) isn't a unicorn.
-ALICORNS-
No. Just... No. I appear to be the only one in existence who has pulled this off, and that was just in a fanfic with no फेसबुक page behind it. Alicorns are for the ones who think that they're better than everypony else, and nopony likes that. NOPONY. Even Applejack.
-GRIFFONS-
These are a hard bunch for me to figure out because I haven't met many, so I guess आप can do whatever the hell आप want with these guys. Try to keep them rational though.
-ZEBRAS-
Um, no. Just no. Don't even try.
-DRAGONS-
Another one that appeals to the newcomer. Try to stray away. If आप end up making one of these your official OC, I'm going to end up calling आप a furfag, and आप don't really want that.
Now that we're done with the species, lets हटाइए on to the अगला section: APPEARANCE!!
(I'll only be discussing ponies in this section.)
-COAT/MANE/TAIL/EYE COLORS-
Ponies generally have bright colors, with the obvious exception being Earth Ponies, who have earthier shades. Try to make your रंग match your personality and definitely make sure to make them look realistic. Let's face it, nopony has a florescent चूना, चूने green कोट with a neon नारंगी, ऑरेंज mane and tail. Good color combos are:
-Red and green
-Red and dark blue
-Blue and light purple
-White and green
-White and blue
-Brown and blue
-Anything gray/white
And so goes the list. Pretty predictable, right? It's just like putting on clothes in the morning. Here are color combos आप should try to avoid, but if it somehow ends up working, then आप must be really creative.... and lucky:
-Dark red and light green
-Black and white
-Purple and yellow
-Generally anything pink
-Blue and yellow
-Blue and orange
-Yellow and orange
-Yellow and गुलाबी (Sorry, 'Braintickle' (FiM))
And so goes that list.
-CUTIE MARKS-
Make it simple. Never overdo it. And, of course, make it correspond to the color scheme and the personality.
Examples of good CMs:
-Treble/Bass clef
-Gear
-CD/DVD
-Any goddamn household object that आप can hold in your palm (baseballs, books, cassette tapes, thumbtack)
-Simple insignias and symbols
And so goes the list.
Examples of bad CMs:
-Anything larger than you
-Furniture
-Vehicles
-Faces
-Animals
-Words
And so goes that list.
-MANE STYLES-
Do I really have to explain this? Okay, fine. Personality is everything. If your टट्टू is emo, make his hair black and swaying to one side. If your टट्टू is an army officer, make it a buzzcut. If your टट्टू is a rockstar, make it a Mohawk.
-TAIL STYLES-
Basically the same thing as above, just coming out of your rear.
