It slithered out of the shadows and up to Dawn Bright's bed. It's eyes narrowed as it perpared to strike at its unsuspecting victim. That's when unicorn intution took over.

Dawn Bright didn't know why but suddenly she woke up. Staring her in the face was a snake, black as night. Dawn Bright screamed as she backed up against the wall. Even though she wasn't afraid of snakes, She was terrified of this one. It didn't look solid and had two front claws. It hissed, probably annoyed cause she woke up.

Dawn Bright had to think fast, the snake was already fast approaching. She concentrated on the snake. She shot a beam of magic at it. The spell that should have turned it into a plant had no affect. Dawn Bright tried many transformation spells as she darted around the room. She thought passingly in her head that it was a miracle that Pyro wasn't awake.

Dawn Bright was panting. She knew that all those spells should have worked on any thing made of a solid matriel. But what if the snake wasn't solid. ! Dawn Bright remembered पढ़ना about a species of snake that was made of Shadows rather than matter. They have never been seen before but टट्टू legend states that the king of the shadow snakes ruled the Unknown. The snake hissed, interuppting Dawn Bright's thoughts.

She narrowed her eyes in concentration. Dawn had never tried a spell this powerful before. Her horn glowed and a blinding light followed. She heard a hiss that turned into a choke. When her eyes cleared the snake was gone. She wasn't sure if it just disappeared या died. What she did know was that shadows couldn't exsist in blinding light. She yawned, tired after a spell. She closed her eyes telling herself to stay alert but in seconds....

BOOM! CRASH! and a multidude of other startling noises woke Dawn Bright up, along with Pyro. They raced down the stairs and into Dawn Bright's parent's room. When they reached it all Dawn Bright could say is, "Oh My!"

Her father's head was stuck in a vase and the room was in diarray. Dawn Bright galloped to her father and asked, "What happened?"

Her looked up at her, about cry and explained, "We were asleep when these snakes attacked. Twilight tried her magic but it didn't work on them. We put up a fight but they stuck this vase on my head. All I then heard was a crash and a scream."

Dawn Bright was shaking. She felt shell shocked. So the Shadow Snakes wern't after her but her mom.

"I'll find her, just take care and try to comfort my little bro," Dawn Bright कहा to her wreck of a father. She was about to hurry off when someone shouted "WAIT!"

Pyro jumped down from her back and said, "I'm Sorry Dawn but I'll just slow आप down, I can wait here."

"Fine, now I'll be on my way," Dawn Bright कहा with annyance. She was about to charge off when someone else shouted "WAIT!"

"What Now!" Dawn Bright said, not able to keep the anger from her voice. Her father, the speaker, walked over to the बिस्तर and pulled out a small box and brought it over to Dawn Bright.

He opened it up. Inside was the element of Magic.

"Dad.... why are आप giving this to me?" she asked her father.

"Your mother told me that if anything happened to her then to give this to you," he answered.

"Thanks dad," Dawn Bright said, starting to choke up. She embraced him. Before Dawn left she said, "I प्यार आप dad."

"I प्यार आप to sweetheart," he कहा tenderly.

Dawn Bright then cantered off into the night.
