They were acting like S5 didn't happen, like if Luke hadn't say I do to Lindsey, they made a big deal about Julian and Peyton, who were just dating, and they didn't even talk about Lindsey and the almost wedding, I mean if she had said I do, Lucas would be marry to her. But anyway, I will never ship Lucas with peyton, even if they had talked about their issues.

delenadarti you know what? i actually agree with you, that's one of the things that bothers me the most as an LPer and why the sixth season is not one of my favorites, as you said "Peyton and Lucas never actually faced these issues. They swept them under the rug". But at the same time i think that following the season 5 storyline, they didn't acknowledge it mainly because of Peyton you know? this if-Lucas-isn't-with-me-my-life-isn't-worth-l­ivi­ng-­Pey­ton­.

alwaysforever Totally agree. That's something that just needed to happen. It's things like that that make me not even want to try to rewatch season 6 (because I don't remember it that well). There are a lot of issues with non-communication and really OOC behaviors from everyone especially when it came to their relationships with the other characters. I agree it would have made me respect LP more if they had hashed out everything that happened in season 5.

kellyerin87 Hmm. I'm trying to think out how to respond to this lol. First of all... generally, I agree. I do. I truly wish that the Lindsey/S5 drama would have been addressed SOMEWHERE, and I expected it to be. If I could go back and add that in, I would. I think addressing those issues would have had a lot of potential to further make LP great, and prove to the non believers that choosing Peyton was legit, and the right thing to do. As an LP'er I would love to hear Lucas tell Peyton what the hell was going on with him in S5, and reassure her that he was just hurt, and hiding as always. But I will say a couple of other things. First thing... I personally (as expected) don't see this as a serious enough issue to not like, or keep from tolerating LP. It's a storyline that could have helped them, yes. But I don't think the lack of it cripples them in any way. I think their love and feelings are still very evident, even without formally addressing the S5 drama. But that's just me. Secondly, it's not like sweeping issues under the rug is an on-going thing for them. There are plenty of issues that they DID face, and diminish together. The life threatening pregnancy, the whole BLP triangle drama, Lucas not being a real friend in parts of S2, the Brooke/Nathan sex tape, Q's death, Lucas struggling to write Keith's part in the movie, Lucas finding out about Peyton & Julian, psycho Derek, etc. So I do think that the quote about love not being a fairytale, and conquering things together still applies to them. Maybe not towards S5 in an obvious way, but IMO it does still apply. And lastly, I'm not even sure if them addressing the Lindsey stuff was necessary. Yes, Lucas proposed, said "I do" to her, and even proceeded to get her back after the aborted wedding. But was anyone honestly buying any of that? I sure as hell wasn't. Brooke wasn't. Skills wasn't. Haley wasn't. LINDSEY wasn't. And as soon as she read Luke's new book... Peyton wasn't. Not to mention that even Luke himself was sending mixed signals all over the place, enough to even cause Lindsey to question his intentions with Peyton numerous times. Enough for her to WALK OUT on the wedding. So I don't really see it as Lucas truly 110% mentally (or physically for that matter) being devoted to, and pining after Lindsey in S5. It's almost like it was all a phony act. Not to say he didn't love Lindsey. But I just don't think it's a coincidence that he didn't show his full commitment to her until Peyton returned. He proposed to her right after kissing Peyton, for crying out loud. Plus let's consider the source, here. This is Lucas we're talking about, the guy has a history of hiding, and throwing himself into the wrong relationships when he's hesitant about who he really wants to be with... Brooke even acknowledged that herself. So really, in a way, I don't think an explanation or addressing that "problem" was really needed. Because deep down, there was no problem. He didn't want Lindsey. It truly was Peyton all along, and everyone saw that. If there really were NO signs of Peyton still being in the picture for him, if it really was ALL about Lindsey, and THEN poof... he proposed to Peyton and they lived happily ever after, without speaking a word of it- then yes, that would drive me insane. But that wasn't the case, and everyone knew it. They both knew by 5x18 that the book was about Peyton. Lucas knew she still loved him. Peyton then knew that Lucas still loved her. So is there really a point in re-hashing all of that drama when they can both just put that nonsense behind them, and finally be happy together? I think by the time 6x01 came around, they were both just drained. Tired of running. Tired of being in denial. Tired of chasing. Tired of being conflicted, angry, hurt, scared, and depressed. They just wanted it to be over, and they wanted to accept reality, and be with the person they truly wanted to be with. So I don't really blame them for just moving forward from that point on. But... that's just me! Sorry for the rant, but that's how I feel on the whole subject :)

Dean-girlx See. That's something that I just can not tolerate. I don't care if Lucas was "hiding". He still said I do to someone else, he still said he hated Peyton for ruining his life, and yes he took that back and that was disscussed but he still said it and meant it in that moment. He truly felt that Peyton ruined his life. He truly felt like life without Lindsey was awful enough to say I hate you, again in that moment. And that's not something that you can just over to live happily without even talking about it. It doesn't matter if Lucas was "hiding his heart" that's total bullcrap. A grown man doesn't do ALL of the stuff that Lucas did just because he's ~hiding~ from himself again. He allegedly went through this with Brooke (according to you guys and Mark). He knew how it would end. He wouldn't repeat the exact same mistakes, tell Peyton, the girl he stalked for years, that he hates her and say I do to someone else right in front of her just because he was ~hiding~. It should have been disccused. If it had been I could have at least accepted them as a couple. But it wasn't, and so I can not see them as a legit love story.

jemgrl323 I agree with it being a problem that the events that had just occurred were not acknowledged at all by Lucas and/or Peyton. But my bigger problem was more just with the fact that they did nothing to build their relationship (which is very different than having "build-up"). Lucas went from one day going ballistic over losing Lindsey to literally the next day asking Peyton to marry him & for the rest of the time on the show they were supposed to be "madly in love." Lucas & Peyton hadn't been in a relationship in about 3 1/2 years, and the last time they had been together was when they were teenagers and their relationship lasted less than a year and a half- and during a year of their relationship they saw each other 3 times. So they were actually physically together for 3 months when they were teens. His relationship with Lindsey was his longest relationship. They were together for over 2 years and they even lived together and she moved to Tree Hill to be with him. It's not like she was just some fling that he decided to propose to once Peyton arrived in town. He was clearly in love with Lindsey and really serious about their relationship. I get that television is unrealistic and things need to move much quicker on tv than in real life b/c viewers get impatient and there are only a finite number of episodes. But there needs to be some sort of resolution and some sort of relate-able aspect. Maybe if Lucas had proposed in the finale of season 5 and then season 6 took place months later so we didn't get to see them rebuild their relationship but we would "know" they did- that maybe could have been better. In season 5 when Nathan & Haley had problems at the beginning of the season, there were a few episodes in which they spent rebuilding their relationship and getting to know each other again. They were married, they were adults, they lived together- but they still grew apart and became different people so they needed to get to know each other again & see if they were still compatible. The "rebuild" of their relationship didn't last very long, but it was long enough to feel satisfied knowing that they were dealing w/their issues & learning how to be in a relationship again. In season 5 Lucas & Peyton barely knew each other anymore. They hadn't spent time together in years and even throughout the season they didn't spend much time together. It's good for them to decide to give their relationship another shot... but to go straight into being engaged (and actually straight into marriage since they planned on getting married in Vegas) and living together is just too much for me to follow. And to be honest, I mostly just blame Lucas. In my opinion Lucas should never have proposed to Peyton at the airport. He should have called her & asked her to take a trip to Vegas with him.... but not take a trip to Vegas to get married. There was no way Peyton could say "hold on Lucas... let's take things slower and first actually date before we get married"- she already turned down his proposal once and he ended things with her for it, she couldn't do it again without risking him never being with her again. But I'm sure she didn't want to turn down his proposal either. As she said it was her dream that he would propose & she would say yes. But that's just it--- it's a dream. In a dream you don't think about the fact that when you marry someone without dating them you'll probably end up getting divorced within the next 5 years. It's a dream b/c you can imagine everything being perfect. And OTH is a tv show- so they can make everything as perfect as they want. But for me, it just turned me off from Lucas & Peyton's relationship.... which is ashame because I actually didn't mind them so much in season 5 and wanted to like them in season 6 b/c it would have made the season more enjoyable for me. But there were just some things (and this is just one little part of it) that just made it too hard to like them, so I gave up trying.

brucas4ever This has always been somehthing that has bothered me. I just will never understand how there was such a dramatic jump into leyton. Okay maybe on Peytons part but not with Lucas.
