Chapter V
Bellatrix stared at the body in her lap. Her loving husband was no more. His eyes were glazed and his lips were gently parted in death. He looked peaceful, happy almost. Bella looked happier. After a moment’s hesitation, she eased out from under the body and drew her wand,
“Align Circulus!” she breathed, drawing a complicated pattern in the air.
Rodolphus’s body shuddered and shrank, bending and turning until an innocent silver band lay on the bedspread, shining in the morning light. Bella picked up the ring and crossed the room to her dresser. She threaded the ring onto a leather पेटी and removed her wedding ring from her right hand, adding it to the cord. Then, she tied it carefully around her neck and returned to the eating area, her face calm.
A pile of plants and various other magical ingredients were heaped upon the roughly hewn stone table, along with vials and pots of strangely coloured liquids. A tiny black snake slithered out of a basket and off the table, disappearing into a crack in the wall.
Bella pushed her sleeves back and opened the book titled “Potiones Moste Darke” and flipped to a page near the back.
“Frozen Ashwinder eggs, shredded unicorn hair, crushed Elder leaves picked at midnight…” she read aloud from the book, tossing ingredients into a large cauldron as she did so. An घंटा later, the brew was a deep red colour, its surface shimmering slightly, loops of steam wafting up from it. Bella consulted the book again. She covered the cauldron with a sheer white cloth and set it in the corner to मछली पालने का जहाज़, स्टू overnight.
She walked back into the bedroom and sat down at the vanity, staring at her reflection in the mirror. Over the past week, her normally टैंगल्ड hair and almost formed long black dreadlocks that hung stiffly around her face. Bella sighed. Normally she didn’t care much, but now it was different. She smirked at the irony, now that her husband was dead, she could start paying attention to how she looked.
An घंटा later her hair was smoothed and tangle-free, floating almost delicately around her like a halo. Once again, the irony struck Bellatrix, a halo? Only एंन्जल्स had halos, and she was no angel.
Chapter VI
In the morning, Bellatrix dressed quickly and hurried out to check on her potion. The surface was a delicate mother-of-pearl white with a silver sheen, and spirals of glistening smoke curled from the self-heating brew. Tying her hair back with a green ribbon, Bella bent her head and inhaled the intoxicating scent of blood, earth, smoke and pomegranate. She carefully poured some of the potion into a delicate silver flask and fastened it to her बेल्ट with a black leather cord. She then crossed the room and opened an ancient looking chest filled with strange magical artefacts. Nibbling on her pinky nail absentmindedly, she selected an ornately carved black flask and a सोना and blue tin from the चोटी, शीर्ष shelf. Bella re-entered her bedchamber and grabbed a locket and a ring from her dresser. After filling the airtight locket with Draught of Living Death, she used a quick bit of magic to imbue the crystal ring with Felix Felicis and slipped it onto her finger.
After a full दिन of self-improvement, Bella was feeling satisfied and proud of herself. Her pale skin almost glowed from within, not a single dark spot marred her perfection. Her hair was hanging tamely about her face, each curl individually glossed and arranged. In her tight fitting black dress and corset, with a smear of bloodred lipstick, Bellatrix looked as she did when she first joined Voldemort as a confident 16 साल old. As she settled down on her bed, a rare smile graced her pretty face.
Chapter VII
Bellatrix had been absent from Lord Voldemort’s plans for too long. A दिन was too long for her, let alone a week! Looking as lovely as the दिन before, Bellatrix exited her chambers for the first time in और than a week. With a purposeful stride she crossed the Grand Hall, ignoring the stares and hushed whispers of the minor Death eaters. She flung open the double doors to the meeting room and paused, seeing her Lord sitting at the तालिका, टेबल with Snape, obviously discussing their अगला plan. Steeling herself for the minor humiliation, she crossed the room and knelt before the Dark Lord, her back to Snape.
“My Lord, I come with good and bad news. Firstly, I beg your forgiveness for my…outburst…a week past. I knew not what I was speaking of. I yearn to re-join आप and purify our world.”
Lord Voldemort stared at her, his face unreadable,
“Secondly, my Lord, I bring news of my husband, Rodolphus. He pitched himself off our balcony on the evening of my…announcement. I just found his body yesterday, and transfigured it into this ring,” she gestured at her necklace, “So that I may keep him close,”
Bellatrix ended her speech, panting slightly, her cheeks flushed. She kept her head lowered, waiting for Voldemort’s command.
“Well Bella, it pleases me to know that आप have regained your senses. आप have always been a faithful servant, and as आप so eloquently put it, loyalty breeds power. आप are welcome back to us. I’m sorry to hear about Rodolphus, another pureblood लॉस्ट to us, but he was never a particularly powerful wizard anyways…” he replied, a slight smirk tugging at his mouth.
“Yes my Lord, I mourn the loss of my pureblood husband, not a powerful wizard. There is only one wizard powerful enough for me to mourn the loss of,”
Snape raised his eyebrows but कहा nothing. He thought about how he had been walking underneath Bella’s chambers 3 days पूर्व and had seen nothing.
“My Lord…” Bella enquired hopefully, “Is there anything आप require of me now?”
“Yes Bella, I need आप to run along and fetch Lucius, I have a job for him,” Voldemort’s voice was amused, as though he enjoyed giving her mere errands to run, “And since you’ve been such a good little housewitch lately, tidying up bodies and making yourself presentable,” Bellatrix flushed, “Why don’t आप get a glass of wine for Severus?”
Snape inclined his head to Voldemort,
“Thank आप my Lord. Bella, bring one for our Lord as well,”
Bellatrix snapped her head around to face Snape and hissed at him softly,
“Of course, Severus,”
She rose and bowed to Voldemort before turning and walking out of the room, her back straight.
Chapter VIII
Lucius and Bellatrix entered the room together yet apart. Lucius’s chest was puffed out and he was swinging his cane happily. He was obviously gloating over Bella’s fall from favour. Bella walked a little bit behind him, carrying a tray with two black goblets filled with red wine. She paused outside the door and waited for the curls of steam to dissipate from one goblet, then entered the hall. She set the tray down on the table, bowed to Voldemort, and left the room, shutting the door gently behind her. She started counting. After making sure the coast was clear, she ran back to her bedroom and refilled her silver flask of Ammortentia. Sitting down on the windowsill, she कहा the numbers aloud to herself. On the 100th second, she drew a tiny चाकू and carved a small X over the skull of her Dark Mark. Waiting another thirty seconds, she rose and prepared for her Lord.
He was right on time. Exactly 130 सेकंड्स after she had left, Voldemort burst into her chambers, his eyes smoldering. Bella lowered her head and knelt before him, breathing heavily in her hopeful state. Just as she had hoped, Voldemort crossed the room, lifted her up, and kissed her roughly on the lips.
“My Lord…!”
Bella stuttered charmingly, though of course it was completely rehearsed, her plan having worked perfectly.
“My love…” Voldemort कहा stupidly.
“My lunch!” added Lucius, glimpsing the scene through the open door and rushing to find a bathroom.
Chapter IX
Bella was looking better than she ever had. Her plan had worked perfectly, and now the Dark Lord Voldemort loved HER! This would दिखाना Snape who the best Deatheater was. Now she was the undisputed Dark Lady to their Dark Lord.
And emergency meeting of the Death eaters was called that night. Snape, looking suitably stoic, was seated to the left of the Dark Lord, while Bella held her rightful spot at his right.
“My फ्रेंड्स and followers, it is my pleasure to welcome back Bellatrix Lestrange after her weeklong absence. Furthermore, I welcome her back, not as a follower, but as an equal. I have finally found what was sitting right in front of me this whole time. Bellatrix and I are to be married tomorrow, and from now on आप will answer to both of us.”
Voldemort said, casting a fond eye over his fiancée.
Bella smiled triumphantly at the other Death eaters as she caressed the Dark Lord’s shoulder.
Rabastan, at the lower end of the table, frowned at his sister-in-law. He looked at Snape and their eyes met. They exchanged meaningful glance and a quick nod of the head told Rabastan to wait for Snape after the meeting. They didn’t have long to wait, as Voldemort dismissed them immediately.
“Severus,”
“Rabastan,”
“Do आप believe him?”
“I believe him. Not her. That ambitious woman would do anything to get what she wants,”
“Well then what did she do to get this?”
“She killed your brother, for one thing,”
“Rodolphus? I thought he jumped…?”
“Don’t be a fool, man, she killed him so that she was free!”
“How dare she…I must avenge my brother!” Rabastan drew his wand and turned towards Voldemort and Bellatrix. Snape grabbed his arm and put his face near Rabastan’s.
“Don’t be stupid, Rabastan. Bide your time and think about if first. She’s obviously using Ammortentia, I can smell it in that flask of hers. Wait until आप have proof, and wait until she will fall the furthest. Then strike.” Snape drew back, nodded curtly, turned and walked away with a swirl of black robes.
Rabastan stood alone, staring at his Lord and his sister-in-law.
