In 2013, Lana Del Rey donated $10,000 to a Kickstarter funding a short film called

For the film, which premieres in Los Angeles Saturday, Del Rey covers Daniel Johnston\'s song "Some Things Last A Long Time" off his 11th album,

. A taste of the cover now appears in a trailer for the film, teasing its digital release on Nov. 11.

As the video explains, this film is not meant to be a documentary on the eccentric icon, but rather a look inside his head. Mac Miller also contributed to fund the project and Soko stars as Johnston\'s long-lost love, Laurie.

Del Rey was recently announced as the recipient of the Trailblazer award at Billboard\'s Women in Music event.

Del Rey also posted a clip of the trailer to Instagram, thanking Johnston for his influence. She wrote, "Dan, you changed my life a long time ago and you\'re still a big inspiration."
