Why would I be on this site if I hadn't read the books?
Of course I have read the books!
YOU SUCK BALLS. GET OUT.
AND IF YOU'VE JUST READ 6 AND 7 YOU SUCK HAIRY BALLS.
especially fantasy books
I have them all in DVD
I got the box set of the first four for Christmas in 2001, when I was 6. I read them all early in the following year and I've never stopped loving them.
As in, I read Prisoner of Azkaban -> Goblet of Fire -> Order of the Phoenix - and then the last two books from the day they were published. I tried to read the first two then, but they didn't hold my interest. And I think I've survived without any misunderstandings or or essential information holes, with only the film versions of those parts. (:
I read each book AT LEAST 4 or 5 times [only the last two books, the rest I read about 10 times each?] and I am currently reading all of them again~ [I'm in the 4th now~ LOL]
To me, reading Harry Potter is.... it's like... going back home. When I want to get away from my own life [like now when I have many exams and everything is just so stressfull T_T], all I need is to pick up this book and go to Hogwarts and everything seems so much better.
Plus, I hate the movies. >>; [I still watch them, but that's mostly because of Alan Rickman and Helena Bonham Carter who are both my favorite actor&actress~]
The movies were great, but J.K. Rowling is an incredible author, and I don't think you should be here unless you've had the sensation of turning the pages of a harry potter book, your whole body aching to discover what happens next.
To the people who say that the books were so boring that they fell asleep:
If it was so boring, why bother with the movies? and why are you here? I'm a devoted harry potter fan, and it is appauling to me to see that there are people who think that the story is boring. You simply must allow the author of the book to lay down the plot, introduce the characters, and sketch out the setting.
I'm not sure how you've read any book, unless you gave the author time to do all that.
I would also like to say, that anyone who thinks they can follow harry potter like they know it all by only watching the movies, is wrong. The movies have been altered in extreme ways by the director and screen writer that it's disappointing. They say they're true to the books, but they're not. They especially messed up HP 6. They left out whole important chunks of it, and now HP 7 is going to be almost impossible for anyone to understand. Unless they leave it all out, or edit it to how they see fit. (Which in my opinion, they shouldn't edit it at all, to show that they messed up)
ive got all the books at home and have read them all too many times to count :)
2nd book-also well written
3rd book-very adventurous (although Ron bugged me all because he thought Hermione's cat ate his rat).
4th book-romance was pointless and everybody was a jerkass to Harry.
5th book-this one is worse. Harry was being a jerk ass to Hermione and Ron because everybody else was acting like a jerk/bitch to Harry. Hermione and Ron were unable to help him because Harry was always separated from them due to the stupid Fudge and that bitchy substitute principal whose name deserves to be in the Burn book.
6th book-a huge improvement on the fifth book. Glad that Hermione/Ron got together. harry/Ginny was random (came out of nowhere) but it still was better than Harry/Cho.
7th book-it had great ideas but they weren't executed properly in the book. Also the happy ending was dull and boring. Sending your kids to a train station 15 years later. What kind of happy ending is that? Rowling should have had the characters throw a celebration party for defeating Voldemort and his followers and a funeral for those who died. Not leave it random and cut to sending your kids to school! That epilouge felt like it was written by an amateur fan girl rather than a professional writer.
(Oh yeah!)
And gonna read them again = DDD
