I decided to write this लेख because I have seen many टिप्पणियाँ lately that kind of bother me.

There are several picks in which this has come up, but the last one I have seen, and the reason why I am लेखन this is the question: ¿Have आप completely changed your attitude towards a character after reading/watching their past stories? (or something along those lines)

link

It is a really interesting question, and what really caught my attention were the answers, the comments, especially since it wasn't the first time that I am पढ़ना टिप्पणियाँ like those.

The thing is that in that pick, James Potter is "winning". In other words, a lot of people say that after seeing what Harry saw on the Pensive (James and his फ्रेंड्स bullying Snape) they have now (and I quote) "lost all respect for him".
Another लोकप्रिय answer is that after seeing Snape's back story they now "think of him as a hero".

I can't help but notice that those जवाब are a bit biased. I don't mean this in a bad way I am just trying to understand why when James does it, he is HORRIBLE, but with Snape all is forgiven.

I mean their stories are identical, the only difference is that we learn about them backwards. With Snape FIRST we learn he is a bully and LATER we learn he is a Hero. While with James FIRST we learn he is a hero while LATER we learn he used to be a bully.

But in all honesty, can पढ़ना about someone's past make आप change everything आप know about them so far? Is that fair? Has no one made mistakes? Of course these characters have made mistakes, that's what makes them so REAL, but that doesn't mean they are bad, या that we can't respect them. They all have made bad choices in the past, yes... But so? WE ALL HAVE. No one here can say that haven't made any mistakes in their past, या that they don't continue making mistakes on a DAILY BASIS. The important thing and what really counts is seeing how those characters were able to turn it around, were able to mature, to change, to make up for their mistakes. THAT is what really counts because that is the most difficult thing to do.

What I don't understand is why people are able to do that for Snape but not for James.
Let's see:

Snape was a bully. Worse than James in my opinion, because he used his position of power to bully those who are in a lower position, his students. As a grown man he bullied kids, and pretty bad. He wasn't nice anyone who wasn't Slytherin, and he was specifically mean to those who needed a bit और time to learn like Neville. Yes, he was a bully... He was once a follower of Voldemort, he loved the dark arts and all of that. BUT he was able to love, he loved Lily and that saved him. His प्यार turned him into a hero because after seeing what Voldemort did to her he became Dumbledore's spy, he worked to bring Voldemort down and he GAVE HIS LIFE for that cause, to protect Harry. He became a hero.

From the टिप्पणियाँ it is सुरक्षित to assume that everyone agrees with me on that point, we are all able to overlook Snape's mistakes (which were many) and see him as a hero.

So my सवाल is why can't people do that for James? Why are people suddenly saying they "lost all respect" for him just द्वारा learning that he made mistakes in the past? IT'S THE SAME STORY AS SNAPE. Let's go back again:

James and his फ्रेंड्स bullied Snape when they were young. They were teenagers, immature, stupid, and they bullied someone who was different from them. However, James changed. He fell in प्यार with Lily and she fell in प्यार with him because he changed. He matured, he joined the Order of the Phoenix in order to fight against Voldemort, to fight against a dark and unfair world. He GAVE HIS LIFE for that mission, he gave his life trying to save his wife and his son, he gave his life because he LOVED them. That makes him a hero too.

या are we able to overlook Snape's past mistakes but not James'?? Is that fair?

All I want to get out of this लेख is for people to try and think about it more. Try to look past how much they प्यार Snape's character, and see the big picture. "Harry Potter" is about embracing past mistakes, and being a better person for them. That's what James did, that's what Snape did, that's what Dumbledore did, and that's what basically ALL the characters did. It's not fair to judge James for what he did when he was a kid and say आप "lost all respect for him" because HE WAS a hero too. And in my opinion NO story about anyone's past should change your opinion of who they were later, of who they are now, because mistakes don't define a person. We all make them.

I hope we can all see that, and stop all the James hate that is seriously unjustified...
