Hermione Granger and Ginny Weasley

I just want to state right away that J. K. Rowling is in no way sexist. This is about the प्रशंसकों and again, not all of them.

Ginerva Molly Weasley. The प्यार of Harry Potter's life, the mother of his children. Headstrong, smart, cunning, quick-thinking, and fierce. The hero to many girls, young and old, and the object of affection to many boys out there as well.

Hermione Jane Granger. The प्यार of Ron Weasley's life, the mother of his children. Also headstrong, smart, cunning, quick-thinking, and just as fierce, if only in a slightly different way. Hermione is possibly the most well-known of the trio, with the exception of Harry, because many girls dress like Hermione for Halloween, if a little...er...inappropriately.

Like many teenage girls, they were romantically involved with और than one boy.

Ginny was with three guys: Michael Corner, Dean Thomas, and of course, Harry Potter. Ginny dated Michael for about six-eight months, dated Dean for almost a year, and eventually married Harry.

Hermione was also with three guys: Viktor Krum, Cormac McLaggen, and Ron Weasley. Hermione dated Viktor for an unknown amount of time. We know she visited him and was seen लेखन Viktor mid-way through her fifth year. Hermione also went out with Cormac McLaggen, although that was just because she wanted to make her future husband, Ron Weasley, jealous.

Both girls were also linked to Neville Longbottom, although it seemed that relationship for both girls was rather one-sided.

And yet...

Hermione's reputation remains intact, being known as a smart girl with a good head on her shoulders. Ginny's seems to be tarnished amongst the fans, with Ginny being constantly downsized as reckless, a flirt, and in some extreme cases, a whore.

Why?

This is one I will never understand. Is it because Hermione seems और feminime than Ginny? After all, in a sport that seems और geered towards men, Ginny can outfly most men in Quidditch, while Hermione remains almost hopeless on a broom. Could it be that Ginny is और stoic and hardened than Hermione, having to suffer the torment of being the only girl in a male family?

If so, then this is EXTREMELY sexist, and the exact opposite of what many believe J. K. Rowling is all about. Appearences can be deceiving is a main theme in the Harry Potter books, and is done with the two main girls. The two seem like polar opposites, but are actually very similar and wind up being good friends.

What I find is common is that the reason Ginny is a "flirt" is that she has dated so many guys.

So many guys? She dated THREE, and married the third one for pities' sake. If anything, I think that in the dating department, Ginny was और innocent than Hermione.

Ginny dated each guy because it seemed that she really liked them. Hermione was with Cormac - however shortly - because she was playing on his affections, using him to make another guy - Ron - jealous. Doesn't this strike आप as और of a jerky thing to do than whatever Ginny had done to her boyfriends?

Not that I'm putting down Hermione, because I'm not. I think she's amazing. However, Ginny has always been one of my प्रिय characters.

Why do people put Ginny Weasley down, and not Hermione? Because, believe it या not, the reasons I listed are very common.

If those are the reasons, I feel pity for those few who take "flirt" away from such an amazing character.

LoopyLuna96 I totally agree. I don't get why so many people hate Ginny. I think she's awesome.

DracoLuver I don't hate Ginny because she's a "flirt." I feel like she gets the spotlight a lot more and she's a mary-sue. However, I will not go on a rant. Just look at my answer in the question, "Who do you hate in HP?"

bri-marie While I do agree that there are a lot of people who consider Ginny to be a slut while thinking Hermione to be a innocent rose, I wouldn't necessarily call it sexist. Sexism, by definition, is "a prejudice of discrimination based on sex. Especially discrimination against women." As the comparison is between two girls, I just don't think it fits. Don't get me wrong -I agree with you 100% on everything else you said, though. Just not about it being sexist. I, personally, dislike Ginny (both in book and movies), but it's not based on her romantic life. In some fans cases (some, not all) Ginny gets that reputation because we actually [i]see[/i] her being physical with Dean and Harry. They hold hands and kiss and touch, whereas we don't see Hermione doing much of anything (I think, maybe, she hugged Krum once and, occasionally, held Ron's hand?). I mean, it took seven books before we got the ultimate Romione scene. Harry constantly kissed Ginny and we know Ginny kissed Dean.

anjunababan yeah, i agree to..I like Ginny from the first one movie.. she was cool..

KMWiggles I totally think this is all being blown outta proportion to be honest. It's clear in Chamber of Secrets, when Harry arrives at the Burrow for the first time and is introduced to Ginny, she panics and runs up the stairs, and it mentions further on in the books that she wrote in Tom Marvolo's Diary about how much she likes Harry Potter, but afraid to tell him how she feels for being rejected. In regards to her dating Dean and Michael, she only dated those two because she was trying to make Harry jealous to show him what he's missing. If you watched Order of the Phoenix when Harry and Cho are in the ROR and Ginny kinda lags behind. She knows how much Harry likes Cho, and is hurt on what he sees in someone like her. It's not until Half Blood Prince when the whole jealousy thing happened with Ron and Lavender that Harry begins to see Ginny in a different light, which I think she's dating Dean at the time of Half Blood Prince. Ginny does not marry Harry out of pity, she's liked him ever since her first year at Hogwarts. It just takes Harry that long to realize that he likes Ginny. As for Hermione, I don't think she dated Viktor Krum, though she did travel to visit him and wrote letters, she despised that he couldn't pronounce her name properly. As for Cormac.. she didn't date him either, she only attended Slughorn's party with him to make Ron jealous, and spent most of the party avoiding him. Seriously.. READ THE BOOKS!!!!!!!!!!!

elsafan1010 You’re right about the Ginny part but you cannot blame Hermione. Hermione has been with Viktor because nobody asked her and she had no choice. Later she just dated Cormac for Ron to be jealous because he gave her up. Ron and Ginny are more to fit, not Hermione.

LowriLorenza89 I think it's more of a case of some fans disliking Ginny, and then picking on her dating other boys as a sign of her being "a slut", rather than them genuinely believing that 3 boyfriends makes her a slut and disliking her for that reason. I also think there's some misunderstanding about whether Ginny genuinely liked Michael and Dean, and was really trying to move on from her crush on Harry. And I also think that some fans tend to forget about Hermione/Cormac, since that was so brief, so they compare it as 3 boyfriends v 2 boyfriends (not that this is a huge difference).
