She was pulling the गाड़ी back घर when she smelled copper... And she heard a faint scream, before it was cut off. She paused in her tracks.
'Whatever's going on is not good... I'd better just say here until things stop,' she reasoned. She pulled her गाड़ी off of the path and into the trees. That's when she saw a familiar face running towards her. The stench of copper and salt grew stronger as he approached. She looked closer at the panicked child, who was only two years older than her. It was her best friend, Panzi. Well, everyone called him Panzi. His real name was Paznidas. He was drenched in some weird red liquid that reeked of the copper and salt. She reached around the पेड़ to grab her friend and pull him into her. He looked terrified of everything... Did his mommy hit him again?
"Panzi, what's going on?" she asked. He covered her mouth and कहा 'shhh'. She would have licked his hand under less disgusting circumstances, but she didn't want the copper and salt stuff in her mouth. She was beginning to get very confused...
"Yxari, आप need to be quiet and hide... Come with me...!" he grabbed her hand and tried to pull her, but she wasn't going to budge.
"What's going on, Panzi? Why are आप scared?"
He just stared for a moment, his pale green eyes bloodshot. He tugged on her hand, trying to pull her. She still didn't budge. Instead, she pulled away from Panzi and ran the opposite direction, towards the stench. She had to keep from gagging from how strong it was.
Oh... The elder is asleep on his deck? Covered in the red liquid? Ah, that's unusual. She went to closer inspect the sleeping man, lifting the cloth that was covering his face. Where were his eyes? Was he stuck in a yawn? She covered his face back up.
"What's going on?" she asked the sky. It didn't answer. She looked to the left to see the nearest home, and the copper smell grew even worse. She creeped towards it, not allowing anything to scare her.
This was Panzi's house, wasn't it? She peeked into the main room to see two people laying on the floor. Panzi's mommy and daddy? She couldn't really tell from how mangled their bodies were. She stalked over to Pazni's mommy, and tried to shake her awake. When that didn't work, she tried to slap the normally intoxicated woman awake, like Panzi's daddy often did. Nothing worked...
She tried to remember what her daddy told her. Something about 'death' या whatever. What did that mean again? Hn... Oh! It meant that आप could never... Wake... Up... She glanced over at Panzi's father... And went pale.
They were all dead. All of them.
