5 Major Characters Who Will Die This Year on 'Game of Thrones'
It's going to get a lot worse before it gets better.
hasn\'t softened. The show that has shocked us through the years will continue to do so. The question is: How?
There are 13 episodes left. Season seven will debut on July 16 this year and run for seven weeks. Next year, the series itself will conclude with a six episode run. Thirteen episodes left. That means things will happen quickly and characters will die even quicker.
Interviewed by EW recently, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau talked about his reaction to the season seven scripts. "I’m like, \'Already? Now?! What?!\'" The man who plays Jaime Lannister was taken aback by the pace of the upcoming season. "I feel like I’d been lulled into a different pace... Everything happened quicker than I’m used to … a lot of things that normally take a season now take one episode."
A lot of things that normally take a season now take one episode?
Two words: Holy shit. Season seven already sounds insane. Kit Harington, who plays Jon Snow, threw more gas on the fire. "This season is really different than any other season because it’s accelerating toward the end, a lot of stuff collides and happens much much quicker than you’re used to seeing on
… it’s so different than what everybody is used to. It’s quite exciting."
is a lot of things, but one thing it\'s always been is deliberate. Episodes cover dozens of characters and many locations but all that is changing now. Characters are coming together en masse which means less locations and less time spent on details. Now, with thirteen episodes remaining and the cast confirming an accelerated storyline, it\'s time to start worrying about our favorite characters.
These are the five majors I\'m expecting to go down in season seven. Let me also note that five is a conservative estimate knowing how cutthroat this show is.
Destined to die by her brother\'s hand thanks to Maggy\'s Prophecy, Cersei is a kamikaze character to begin with. She\'s smart, but short-sighted, and filled with a venomous anger that will be her undoing.
loves to come full circle with plot lines so watch out for a moment where Jaime is faced with having to murder his sister (like the Mad King) or watch her kill thousands. History will repeat itself and Jaime will do it. His path is one of redemption.
He may be redeemed, but Jaime\'s fate is to die like his sister. He may make it until the end of the season, but there\'s little room for a one-handed knight in the Great War. Jaime has grown immeasurably since season one and we\'ll wait to see if he\'s reunited with Tyrion and/or Brienne in the upcoming season. He\'ll, hopefully, get a worthy send-off.
What is her place in the Great War? She can\'t fight and she has Littlefinger in her ear every second. Their dynamic will reveal both their fates. The easy prediction is Sansa will pretend to betray Jon Snow, something Littlefinger has been pushing for, and his deception will be revealed. But that\'s too easy. Littlefinger is smarter than Sansa and he\'ll get her killed.
After causing Sansa\'s death, Littlefinger will be out of friends in the Stark family. He does, however, have the backing of Robyn Arryn and the Knights of the Vale. Could Sansa come between Littlefinger and Robyn, who may love her also? More likely, Littlefinger\'s past will come back to haunt him. He had a major role in the death of Ned Stark and the North remembers. Plus, if he gets Sansa killed or Jon discovers his two faces, watch out. He may have a grisly end.
Another redemption story, Theon is on the right path now but he\'s also a prime candidate to die. He\'s not so beloved a character that he\'ll be mourned and he\'s already shown a willingness to sacrifice himself for those more important than him. There will be a reckoning with Euron and I can see both Greyjoys, Theon and Yara, going down.
