I definitely see a lot more hatefulness (and straight-up trolling) than I do genuine misunderstandings. There's just something about the anonymity of the internet that makes people feel like they're required to be giant assholes.

It's 50/50 based on my own personal experiences.

Usually the fights I've been in have been misunderstandings.

Maybe I'm wishful thinking, though. I haven't really considered which I've seen most of before this poll.

It's easy to misunderstand someone when your only form of communication is anonymous typing.

You can't use your voice or facial expressions to convey emotion, plus most of us don't know each other in real life. It can be very easy for sarcasm to be taken seriously, and for politeness to come across as passive aggressiveness.

Generally a problem I'm sure we all face on a number of websites! But I have definitely seen this happen on Fanpop a lot.

At least I hope.

Tone is so hard to convey in text. I've seen my fair share of people trolling and being genuine assholes, but I've definitely seen more misunderstandings.

at least where i go, there are a few fight here and there. i have a knack for always getting into fight. WHY IS THAT?!!
