This लेख attempts to distinguish what sorts of सवालों should be पोस्टेड with the different "question" features on Fanpop, and was last edited on 31 March 2009.
Now that फैन्पॉप has added another "Ooh! Ooh! I get to ask a question!" feature, the सवाल "What is the difference between all these features?" is even और appropriate than ever before. One can ask a सवाल in a Forum, in a Quiz, in a Pick, या in an Answer (Request). Which one should be used for a दिया question?
In summary
To be brief:
* A club's Forum is the best place to ask a सवाल that has a single correct answer which आप don't know, such as "Who created this spot?"
* A Pick is for सवालों that do not have an objectively correct answer: जवाब based on opinions या feelings. "Who should win this contest?" या "Which of these do आप like best?" are perfect examples of सवालों for a pick.
* A Quiz is for सवालों that have a single correct answer which आप do know, such as "Who is the person in this picture I've provided?"
* An Answer Request is for a सवाल that has multiple correct answers, या a single answer sufficiently involved that it can be provided in multiple different ways. "How does one bake snickerdoodles?" is an example of a good request for Answers.
Answers
The जवाब feature is a knowledgebase. It is a mechanism for users to share their wisdom with one another on different processes. दिया that there can be multiple correct जवाब to any particular सवाल - supported द्वारा the fact that users vote for the best correct answer - the expectation is that जवाब may be varied, of some length, and reflect different approaches to the question. They are particularly well-suited towards process questions, therefore, and NOT AT ALL suited to सवालों that have a single, one-word correct answer. Thus, good Answer Requests often start with the सवाल words "How" या "Why" rather than "Who" "What" "When" "Where" या "Which". For instance, "How do आप identify the species of a particular tree?" is a good Answer Request - there are many different but equally correct जवाब to such a question, while "Who wrote that book about intelligent dolphins joining humans in the galactic community of space-faring races?" is a lame Answer Request, as there is only one answer: David Brin. If there's only one correct answer, and that answer will not vary among the users who answer that question, there's no point in having multiple people attempt to answer the question, nor any point in voting for the best answer.
Picks
Picks are a way of gauging the opinions of the users, rather than their knowledge. Pretty much any opinion-based सवाल is appropriate as a pick, and not appropriate as an Answer Request या क्विज़ question. Picks usually incorporate any of the सवाल words with words that require a value judgment, such as "feel", "prefer", "want", "choose", "like", "best", et cetera. "Who is your प्रिय Friend?" is a great pick सवाल (which may be why we've seen it so many times).
Quizzes
क्विज़ are a way of testing how carefully users pay attention to the information available on Fanpop. One asks a सवाल which answer is readily available via a link, video, मंच post या other content on या linked from Fanpop. The जवाब should be facts या statements made on the site, rather than feelings, and सवालों whose जवाब cannot be discovered on the site are inappropriate. क्विज़ सवालों should always be answerable द्वारा users who are paying attention in that particular club. सवालों such as "Who was the first user to post 500 तस्वीरें on the site?" and "What was my childhood nickname?" are completely bogus क्विज़ सवालों unless that information has been पोस्टेड somewhere in that club in a forum, link, video, article, या even another क्विज़ question, which could be read द्वारा anyone in that club. Thus, फैन्पॉप chat is not a good स्रोत for क्विज़ सवालों (as it would require that the user be participating at a set time in order to know the answer to a question).
Fora
The मंच for a दिया club is a place to discuss and convey information about the club's topic. As such, any type of सवाल may be asked here. But since there are specific features to ask trivia questions, opinions and process questions, those would be better asked as part of Quizzes, Picks and Answers, respectively. I say this in particular because there is no way to खोजिए the मंच in a club faster than scrolling through every page of comments, so specific सवालों and their जवाब get quickly and easily lost. Not only is that inconvenient, but it also results in many, many repetitions of the same सवालों being asked over and over again. Don't do it! Always खोजिए to see if someone else पोस्टेड a similar सवाल before you, and if they have, don't duplicate it. If no one has asked the same (or a sufficiently similar) question, go ahead, knock yourself out and post your question. Doubtless there will be many users delighted to get a non-repeat सवाल to answer, and आप may even get प्रॉप्स for it.
Still, it is better to ask सवालों with short, one- या two-word जवाब in the मंच than elsewhere. While the fora aren't searchable, Answer Requests aren't searchable, either, and so a club's मंच has a marked advantage for सवालों where there can या will be little variety in the short answer: they can be found और easily than in a similarly long सूची of Answer Requests (because और मंच threads are listed on a page), and such सवालों don't then clutter up the सूची of Answer Requests (thus making it और likely that people searching for an answer to a particular सवाल will find it).
A final note on the forum: while specific, single-answer सवालों such as "How big is the banner for a club?" are best asked in a club's forum, chances are very high that someone has asked that सवाल before you...many times. While it is true that आप can't खोजिए for मंच posts या threads, आप can do two quick things before posting such a question:
1) Check the first page of मंच threads to see if any of the threads are likely to address your question. For our example, the "General Questions" thread in the फैन्पॉप club is almost certain to have answered that सवाल already.
2) Though fora can't be accessed through the खोजिए feature at present, after nearly three years of फैन्पॉप there's a clear pattern: if enough people ask the same freakin' सवालों over and over again, someone will get fed up enough to write an लेख explaining the answer, in the vain hope of cutting off any further repeats of the same question. Thus, if आप have a सवाल that has a short and/or single answer, search for articles that may already answer your question.

This topic may already exist as a soapbox but I have to say that things on certain spots seem to being rated one तारा, स्टार CONSTANTLY. People have complained in मंचों on और than one occasion, no प्रशंसक would rate something one तारा, स्टार if they liked the subject the spot was dedicated to, has anyone else noticed this on any spots?
It happens on the One पेड़ पहाड़ी, हिल spot, and others related to it, I'm sure that someone else is really annoyed about this!! It is really childish! Sometimes it is pages of content all rated one तारा, स्टार and somehow I feel convincedthat it is NOT a coincidence!!!
Can आप please comment!
