Does any one know why roland crossed to the other side and picked hell ?

I believe Rolland became a Demon due Rosaline, the girl he fell in प्यार with (Fallen in Love). I don't recall the exact details, but they didn't end up together. Rolland was so दिल broken he chose Hell.
