For those that don't know who Irene Adler is, she was "the woman" according to Holmes. There's more on her here :link

I recently read "A Scandal in Bohemia" because I became a little obsessed over the new "Sherlock Holmes" movie and I wanted to know more. Since House is based off of Holmes I thought that the character of Adler was similar to Cuddy.

Cuddy is House's boss, Adler is an adversary to Holmes
Cuddy plays pranks on House/can match his banter, Adler is the only woman to ever have out smarted Holmes
Adler is supposed to be stunning...*cough* this one is simple enough ;)
She's always been a sort of romantic figure for Holmes although it is never brought up nor mentioned in the story she is in.

Anyways, I was just wondering what y'all thought :)

I constantly go back and forth with this. In the beginning of the series, I thought Cuddy was Lestrade and Stacy was Adler but now I just give up! Certain attributes of Adler can apply to both Cuddy and Stacy, her characteristics are too ambivalent to pinpoint someone with Adler. Maybe Adler in the House universe is a unicorn.

Yeah I was analyzing this when i went to see the sherlock holmes movie. i think that she is like irene in a lot of ways but there are some things that she did that cuddy never would. she def doesnt match as well as house and wilson do to holmes and watson ;)

I thought about it when I was watching the movie :) If House is Sherlock, she's Adler... except for the fact: Cuddy is prettier xD

Stacy is Irene Adler! Marriage issues, the fact, that she was able to handle House... And right now the show has almost nothing to do with Holmes - back then it had.
Also, Huddy storyline changed a little because of fans and nice chemistry between characters. It also has nothing to do with Holmes concept. Shown in the movie OT3 has nothing to do with how it looks in books, so even friendship with Wilson eliminated Cuddy a little.

The problem with Cuddy being Adler, is that Holmes and Adler were not romanticly involved in the original literature. Adler only appeared once ('A Scandal in Bohemia').
In the film, Adler was played up to be Holmes' love interest.

Similarities between Cuddy and Adler are that they have both outsmarted House/Holmes, and are both stunningly beautiful.

But in the film, I did see Cuddy as Adler.
In the literature- no.
