She is so emotionally strong and she never sinks to the level of those putting her through all that cruelty. She also does commit a few small acts of rebellion, as well as jumping at the one chance she had to leave. And when the duke comes, she is determined to see him and pulls out the shoe despite Tremaine's efforts to stop her.

I don't know about this pick. She's not much better than either Snow White or Cinderella

You can't call her a doormat for not wanting but having to stay with her wicked step family. If she dared disobeyed she would have been thrown out into the cold dirty streets where she would starve and most likely be raped.. in reality :L To me Cinderella is one of the best role models young girls can have and it's because of her kindness to all, her patience & strength, always having a smile on her face when things get rougher and rougher & not having cracked! To be honest if I were in her situation the best you could have done was dream of an opportunity but until then work till good things happen .

I agree with everything that has been said here about Cinderella, aside from the "doormat" comment obviously, and in my opinion she and Rapunzel are equally great role models for either girls OR boys (yes, call me old fashioned but I value the sense of dignity, respect, kindness and moral incorruption in guys more than any other traits and qualities), however, seeing as I already voted for Cinderella as the strongest princess in a pick that also caused quite a mental struggle due to the fact that it was tied for me between these two as well, I'll have to go with Rapunzel this time. She got to undergo an immense psychological pressure and manipulation coming from her passive aggressive, oppressive and emotionally abusive mother and managed to remain a brave, caring, kind, enthusiastic, outgoing person with a tendency to widely express herself through art and avance her skills and knowledge to the best of her ability even despite the total isolation she was inorganically subjected to. So many young people lack the courage to move on from the destructive influence of their parents and guardians, Rapunzel on the other hand managed to make a change and rebuild her life exactly the way she wanted it to be.

^Calm down you two. No need to argue. Anyways, Cinderella has lived her whole life with her stepmother and stepsisters and she always obeyed them no matter what they did. Unlike most princesses, she didn't run out of nowhere without saying a word, I think Cinderella is the best rolemodel and would make a great princess.

^ agree BUT she also didn't defend her self. That's not very role model like. She could not take action, without her fairy God mother she would not meet her prince and spend the rest of her life being a servant! Little girls could get the wrong massage, waiting for their miracle.

^ defend herself against what? other than her two sisters tearing her dress apart which I don't think she could do much about.. even if she tried 'defending her self' she would have gotten thrown out and when your young fairies exist so it's not sending the wrong message because by the time they are smart enough to know better they would have a better understanding of the situation? If you were comparing her to a real life situation she speaks to her mice friends and if a child were to see an elder woman helping her out of that situation they would take it upon them to tell somebody to help them with whatever 'violence' issues they had at home.

Both, Cinderella and Rpunzel deserve to be higher, but between them, Rapunzel is a little bit more proactive.
But Cinderella is a good role model, too. She isn't a doormat at all, only someone who is in a very difficult situation without any other options than holding on and waiting for an opportunity...and when she gets it, she takes it.

^ must disagree. She would not meet the prince without her fairy God mother. I rather her be a rebel like Merida, Ariel or Jasmine. That's at least fighting for your rights and freedom. She is a kind and hardworking but not very smart.

Even before the fairy god mother showed up she tried to assess herself by pointing out that the invitation is for her, too. And you can't judge her based on modern standarts. Nowadays, you could go and make your own life. Cinderella lifes during a time where her options are basically "daughter of the house", "Married woman" or "whore/beggar". Nevermind that she most likely feels connected to the animals. What would happen to Sultan or Bruno if she left?

@Swanpride
Didn't even think about the time age she lived in. Didn't think it mattered... She's just a cartoon character, whatever happens to her all depend on the writer of the story. So she could or could not survive if she ran away. It all depends on the person in charge.

Swanpride picked Rapunzel:
Mulan had a supportive family, Cinderella doesn't. Mulan can be sure that her parents will take care of everything while she is away, Cinderella has a lot of animals who are dependent on her (and I'm not talking about the Mice, they can take care of themselves) and who might end up dead or on the streets if she leaves. You can't compare that. Plus, Mulan DIDN'T go to change society, she went to protect her father. Don't you think that Cinderella would have acted the same if the rokes had been reversed?

I'm sorry, but "She's just a cartoon character, whatever happens to her all depend on the writer of the story" has to be one of the weakest arguments I've ever heard.

I'm not trying to be rude, but seriously.
