Okay, just to clarify, it's on if they would make a good queen of their own people. Someone voted for Poca yesterday because they thought I meant a fancy, dressed up queen, and I don't want that to happen again.

I'm going with Jasmine. I like her, but I've been voting for her for a while now. I don't think she'd be bad, but I do agree with comments other users have made on previous picks of this countdown about how having such a huge lifestyle gap could alienate her from her people, and how we never see her motivated about problems she knows exist in her kingdom :)

^^I don't think that's a very good reason for Tiana being a bad queen. Cinderella isn't royal born either. Many people born to royalty fail miserably. But hey, to each her(or his) own.

Neither would Cinderella seeing as she was a servant, the two of them can be taught.

Anyway, I pretty much agree with everyone else about Jasmine. So yeah . . .

Cinderella doesn't really know how to be a queen... She's, technically, been a 'slave' girl to her step-mother/step-sisters for most of her life.

^^By your logic, neither would Tiana. She's been "slaving" away at two jobs for a large part of her life.

I just want each of the princesses to be judged fairly. I don't mind anyone's opinion, but you should look at things from all sides first. Then, if your opinion is the same, so be it. But give each princess a fair chace instead of saying, "Okay, Tiana and Cinderella weren't "trained" for it, so their out, and Jasmine is pampered so she couldn't be good either." That's just not right, IMO.

^ But if that, in their opinion, means they wont be a good queen then no one can really change that.

I dunno. In Enchanted Tales, Jasmine wanted to do all this stuff for her community. And in one episode of the Aladdin TV series, she was turned into a rat in the streets and when she turned back, she told her dad about the poor people she saw in Agrabah, which the sultan knew nothing about.

I don't know who to pick.

Why Jasmine?

^^Some people seem to think that, since she was rich and all, she can't "connect with her people", and that she didn't use her money to help the poor outside the palace. I don't really get why people are picking her- she's shown plenty of signs of helping out (as TigerRanma stated).

@AnimalsAreLife: She may not be weak but she is passive.

Ok you're gonna have to clarify some things for me.


1) Are we talking if they were 'hypothetically' ruling alone? or as queen ruling WITH their respective 'king'?

Because Jasmine would be screwed if she were alone! She didn't even know normal people have to pay for food. And she seems too indifferent about her social status. Luckily, I figure she'd have Aladdin to help fill the gaps.


2) Are we talking about RULING their people or just doing what is socially expected of them?

In that case, Cinderella might be the best Queen since her only expectation is to shut up, have children and produce a male heir.


3) Are we taking the reality of their "own people" and society into account or not?

Because Tiana's "people" live in America where she would have ABSOLUTELY no power as a Queen.


4) When you say "Queen" do do you really just mean "leader"?

Because that makes a HUGE difference for Pocahontas. I mean Pocahontas is only considered a "princess" because she is the daughter of a chief. HOWEVER, chiefs were elected by their tribes for their leading capabilities in a somewhat democratic fashion and their children were not given any titles equivalent to prince or princess for they were not guaranteed succession. You had to EARN and WANT the title to be their leader. I don't think she would approve of anyone being born into that position. Also she lived in a relatively classless society. So if being Queen meant living better, having more property, total power, social obligations or social hierarchy among her people Pocahontas would want nothing to do with it. This would make her the best “leader”
I just don’t like the word “Queen”. It indicates a ruling class which didn’t exist among Pocahontas’s people. So the word just doesn’t apply to her.
She wouldn’t want to be an entitled ruler, she’d want to be a responsible leader.

Though I suspect this is what you mean since you seem set on Pocahontas winning this countdown. ;)

I cant answer Alafastanzio's questions but I agree with firegirl1515 -- Cinderella is definately passive but she is FAR from weak.

@alafastanzio: Yeah, I meant leader. It's just that when I asked this as a regular pick, people said it would make a good countdown, so I didn't want to change the name or confuse anyone. Also, most of them would become actual queens, so I didn't want to leave out Pocahontas or Mulan (who would never have been in that much power anyway, although she was offered a job as a royal adviser).

It's when ruling with their partner, but assuming the would have the same powers as the king (make laws, help the poor, ect). It doesn't matter what people-it's based on their character and the such. Like, would Tiana make a good queen in general?

If it was doing the expected, Snow White wouldn't have gotten out so quickly. Hope I helped!

Jasmine is a bit seperated from the people but yeah...Aladdin would help there. She, more than any other princess, has that self-entitlement issue.

I'm with alastanzio, Jasmine was raised in the palace and was never allowed leave. She has no idea what cold cruel world it is, and what the peasants have to go through every day.

^^Well, she did live among them for a day, so she learned how terrible it was. And if you count the Enchanted Tales, then, like TigerRanma said, she does a lot for her people. Also, if you count the T.V. series, then she's done even more to help.

she didn't reeally live among them...she just walked through the market and nearly got her arm cut off. I'm sure she does some good in the tv series but that's hardly fair since most of the other princesses don't have their own series to back their qualifications up.
