If I knew the other one I'll probably would've picked it over SM.

Never heard of the other. I kind of like Sailor Moon Crystal.

MKR kind of reminds me of SM. It's another older magical girl anime.

Sailor Moon was pretty good. I have heard the other one mentioned somewhere, but I haven't watched it and don't know anything about it.

I love both but I prefer Magic Knight Rayearth mainly because the girls can also use weapons,the girls aren't super girly girls that only talk about boys,shopping and make up and because the plot twist at the end was very interesting

I can agree with that.

As much as I love Sailor Moon and have fond memories of watching it as a child,I have to admit that after watching more shoujo anime,I think that it hardly deserves its reputation as the best shoujo anime that was ever created.I think that it pales in comparison to Ayashi No Ceres,Fushigi Yuugi,Magic Knight Rayearth and Pretear.I mostly prefer those animes because they are darker,more mature and have much better villains.Also in SM there seem to be no real consequences at all,I mean sure you get to see the Sailor Senshi dying two times but they still come back to life again,while in the animes I mentioned above(save for Pretear which doesn't have any death scene)when a character dies he stays dead(even if it was a character that was very close and important to the protagonist).

Not even gonna lie a lot of my love of SM comes from childhood fondness and a certain gratitude that it was my first anime. Also I've only watched 1 or 2 Rayearth episodes so far.
