This has been bugging me for a while but who is the main character? i always thought it was America but is he the REAL main character? या is there even a main character?

Instead of just one main character, they more-or-less have main groups.

Axis: consisting of Italy, Germany, and Japan
Allies: consisting of America, Russia, China, England, and France.

The other countries come into play throughout the series as it goes.

At least that's how I view it.
